Sage Theatre was founded in 1998 under the artistic leadership of Rob Moffat. Sage Theatre quickly established a presence as an innovative and risk-taking theatre company. Rob Moffat remained with the company until 2004, with Kelly Reay taking over during an extremely productive decade. In 2015, Jason Mehmel became Artistic Director and Sage's brand of bold, intimate and thoughtful theatre continues... In 2005, Sage Theatre founded the Ignite! Festival for Emerging Artists. The festival provides an opportunity for young artists to showcase and develop their skills, while giving audiences an entertaining and engaging sneak peak of the artists who will populate Canada's performing arts scene for years to come. In nearly twenty years of the festival, we have produced dozens of new one-act plays and dance performances, and have played a part in launching hundreds of careers in the arts...
