Kaushik Barua is a well-known entrepreneur and wildlife conservationist based in Guwahati, Assam. He has founded the Assam Elephant Foundation which works towards the welfare and conservation of Asian elephants - both in-situ and ex-situ and presently CEO of this organisation Kaushik Barua has served Assam as Honorary Wildlife Warden. He is a member of IUCN's Asian Elephant Specialist Group, Assam's State Board for Wildlife and Elephant Task Force. Barua is a key member of the ‘Indian Rhino Vision 2.0' Team where he is responsible for planning out translocation operations. He has collaborated with the Forest Departments of Assam and West Bengal in various rescue and radio collaring operations involving elephants, rhinos, tigers and leopards caught in conflict situations. Barua is also involved in the training and deployment of Military Working Dogs for anti-poaching operations.
