The Auditor General's role is to audit the finances and activities of the Government of Nova Scotia. We are the auditors of every government department, regulated fund, public service and governmental unit, as well as four government business enterprises, five partnership arrangements, the Nova Scotia Health Authority and IWK Health Centre. We audit so that we can report on how well the government is managing its responsibilities and the province's resources. We provide independent assurance to the people of Nova Scotia that public money is spent properly and provides value... The Office has 40 staff, with most holding or pursuing their Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation. Some staff have obtained additional certifications such as the Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) and Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA)... We conduct and report audits that provide the House of Assembly and Nova Scotians an independent view of public sector performance and accountability.
