Daniel Roney, MD, is a lifelong Northland resident and the senior member of Northland Family Care. He graduated from Winnetonka High School in 1981. He then attended the University of Missouri - Columbia, graduating summa cum laude in 1985. He attended medical school at Washington University, in St. Louis, Missouri, earning his medical degree in 1989. He completed his residency training at the University of Kansas Medical Center in 1992 and joined Dr. Richard Bowles and Dr. Thomas Vinton in private practice at Northland Family Care.
Dr. Roney enjoys the wide variety that family medicine offers, as well as the opportunity to get to know his patients on a personal level. He particularly enjoys caring for hospitalized patients, and the challenges that they present.
Dr. Roney is active in Beth Haven Church, where he has attended since age 4. He has served as an elder and taught Sunday School for several years. He enjoys spending time with his wife Melinda and their three sons. He is actively involved in the activities of his three sons, Brandon, Joel and Alex. He is an avid sportsman, enjoying activities such as waterskiing, snow skiing, fishing, and a variety of spectator sports.
Dr. Steve Nelson grew up in Kansas City and graduated valedictorian of his class at St. Pius X High School. Following High School, he attended Rockhurst University and graduated with a Bchelor of Science in Biology. He then attended Creighton University School of Medicine located in Omaha, NE. He completed his residency training at Baptist Medical Center in Kansas City.
Dr. Nelson has been practicing with Northland Family Care since 2001. He provides care for patients in our clinic as well as inpatient adult and pediatric care at Liberty Hospital. Dr. Nelson's goal is to provide his highest level of care in a compassionate manner. Developing a trusted physician-patient relationship that his patients can rely on is a top priority for Dr. Nelson. He is a Board Certified Family Practice Physician, and enjoys all aspects of Family Medicine, particularly Pediatrics and Sports Medicine.
When Dr. Nelson isn't working, he enjoys spending time with his wife Lisa and their two sons, Matthew and Trevor. He coaches his sons' sports teams, volunteers with their school and local charities and is an active member of St. James Catholic Church. He also enjoys watching and attending various sporting events as well as playing competitive sports such as basketball and football.

Lisa Helberg, FNP-C, has lived in the Northland all her life. In 2004 Lisa graduated from Research College with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She continued her studies there and earned her master's degree in nursing in 2011.
She worked as a nurse in Telemetry and ICU. As a Nurse Practitioner she has practiced in Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery at Research Medical Center. She also has experience in the Emergency Department and Urgent Care setting. At Northland Family Care, she enjoys working with the wide variety of patients that family medicine offers as well as establishing personal relationships with patients.
When not working Lisa enjoys spending time with her husband and their three boys, Jack, Eli and Charlie. As a family, they stay busy with the kids' sporting events and activities.
