Ashley started her career in public accounting with MHCS in 2007. Ashley leads the Client Accounting Services service line and provides clients outsourced accounting services, specializing in controller and CFO services. She enjoys developing relationships with clients and providing financial information for making better decisions. Ashley is originally from Norwalk, Iowa and attended Simpson College, where she received her B.A. in Accounting. Currently, she lives in Norwalk with her husband and three sons. Ashley stays involved in the community by serving as the Director of Accounting for the National Association of Women Business Owners(NAWBO) Iowa Chapter and is a member of Accounting and Financial Women's Alliance Des Moines Chapter.
Brian joined MHCS in April 2001. Brian specializes in tax and advisory services for closely-held businesses and compilation and preparation services. Brian is originally from Des Moines, Iowa and received his Bachelor's degree in Accounting from University of Northern Iowa. Currently, he lives in Pleasant Hill with his wife and two children. Outside of work, he enjoys biking, hiking, and following the St. Louis Cardinals, Iowa Hawkeyes and UNI Panthers. Brian is actively involved in his community. For the Young Women's Resource Center, he is a finance committee member. He is also a member at the Affinity Breakfast Club, a committee member with the Iowa Society of CPAs, and is a member of the Des Moines Rotary Club.

Cindy joined MHCS in April 2006. Cindy specializes in recruiting and employee relations. Cindy is originally from Cedar Rapids, Iowa and received her Bachelor's degree from the University of Iowa. Currently, Cindy lives in Clive with her husband and their two children. Outside of work, Cindy enjoys boating, skiing, biking, and other outside activities. To stay active in the community, Cindy volunteers at Hope Ministries and Meals from the Heartland.
Dan joined MHCS in October 1990. In addition to his daily client and firm responsibilities, Dan leads the firm's trucking and transportation niche and specializes in business valuation, consulting, and tax services. He is originally from Maynard, IA, and attended Hawkeye Institute of Technology, where he received his associate of applied science degree. Dan holds board of director positions with the Iowa Motor Truck Association Allied Division and the Blank Park Zoo. He is also a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accounts and the Iowa Society of Certified Public Accountants.
Dave joined MHCS in May 1999. Dave primarily works with entrepreneurs and closely-held business in tax planning and business consulting. He primarily specializes in the real estate industry. Dave is from Davenport, Iowa and attended Simpson College where he received his degree in Accounting. Outside of work, he enjoys traveling with his family and the great outdoors. Dave also enjoys golfing, skiing, hiking & relaxing on the North Shore of Minnesota. Dave stays involved in the community through Make-A-Wish Iowa, where he is the Treasurer of the Board. He also is the Treasurer of the Board of the West Des Moines Community Schools Foundation and is a member of 100 Men on a Mission Philanthropy Group.
Glen joined MHCS's assurance team in November 2018 and transitioned to become the firm's Chief Financial Officer in the summer of 2020. He is originally from Spooner, Wisconsin and attended Trinity Christian College in southwest Chicago where he received his BS in Accounting. Currently, Glen lives in Pella with his wife, Cassie, and three kids, Asher, Kaelyn, and Judah. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with family, doing home improvement projects, reading, and cheering for the Chicago Bears. Glen stays active in the community by serving as the Board Treasurer for Pella Christian Grade School and the Heart of Iowa Student Tuition Organization (STO).
Jeff joined MHCS in January 2010. Jeff primarily works with small business owners to maximize profits and minimize taxes. He specializes in agriculture and farm taxation, closely held businesses and healthcare. Jeff was raised in Gowrie, Iowa, and received his Bachelor of Arts with a double major in Accounting and Finance from Iowa State University. Currently, he lives in West Des Moines with his wife, two boys, and dog. Outside of work, Jeff enjoys spending time with his family, playing golf, and cheering on the Cyclones. To stay involved with his community, Jeff is the Treasurer of Madison County Chamber of Commerce and Treasurer of Booster Pak. Jeff is also a member of Winterset Rotary Club and a graduate of West Des Moines Leadership Academy.
Jenny joined MHCS in November 2009. Jenny specializes in closely-held businesses such as manufacturers, distributors and construction. She also works with employee benefit plans and non-profits. Jenny grew up in Oskaloosa, Iowa and attended Iowa State University, where she received her degree in Accounting. Currently, she lives in Norwalk with her husband and 4 children. Outside of work, she enjoys baking (especially decorating cakes), party planning, online shopping and watching her kids in various activities. Jenny is involved with Hawthorn Hill and Bidwell Riverside center, where she is a board member. She is also a member of Lead like a Lady, is a 2016 graduate of West Des Moines Leadership Academy, and 2016 Business Record Forty under 40 honoree.
Jose Luis Garcia joined MHCS in June 2019 with over six years of prior experience in public accounting. Jose works primarily on audits, reviews, and AUPs for construction, manufacturing, and distribution clients. He also specializes in implementing new accounting standards and on purchase accounting transactions. Jose is originally from Winona, Minnesota and attended Winona State University where he received his Bachelor's in Accounting and Finance. Currently, he lives in Des Moines with his wife, Susi, and one child expected to arrive October 2022. In his free time, Jose enjoys traveling, watching and playing soccer, and working on house remodels. He is an active member of CPAmerica, the Iowa Society of CPAs, and the American Institute of CPAs. Jose supports his community by being a board member of HOME Inc., and is involved with Big Brothers Big Sister of Central Iowa and Young Professionals Connection through the Greater Des Moines Partnership.
Mike joined MHCS in November 1992. Mike works on tax planning and compliance for closely held businesses and their owners. Mike especially works with tax specialty services and engagements, client concentrations in real estate and agribusiness. Mike is originally from Harlan, Iowa and received his Bachelor's degree from Northwestern Missouri State University. To stay involved with his community, he is active in the Knights of Columbus, Saint Francis of Assisi Church and School, and Z3 Youth and Junior Triathlon Team.
Nate joined MHCS in September 2014. Nate helps lead the tax service line and primarily works with mid-sized, closely held businesses, business valuation services and litigation expert services. Nate specializes in the following industries: healthcare, professional services and manufacturing. He grew up in Guthrie Center, Iowa and attended Iowa State University, where he received his Bachelor's degrees in Finance and Accounting. Currently, Nate lives in Adel with his wife and two sons. Outside of work, he enjoys golfing, spending time with family and coaching his sons in various sports. Nate is involved with Iowa Society of CPAs, is a member of the Taxation Committee, and is a Finance Committee member for Urban Dreams.
Nick joined MHCS in November 2012. Nick leads the Real Estate and Construction practice and specializes in Partnership taxation, State and Local tax (SALT), and closely held businesses. He is originally from Sherrill, Iowa and attended University of Northern Iowa, where he received his degree in accounting. Outside of work, Nick enjoys spending time with his wife, Nicki, and their three children, coaching his children in various sports, golfing and spending time outdoors. Nick is the former treasurer of Morsel Combat. Additionally, Nick is a graduate of the West Des Moines Leadership Academy and the Iowa Motor Truck Association Leadership Academy.
Wendy joined MHCS in October 2015. Wendy specializes in audits, reviews, agreed-upon procedures and consulting engagements related to financial statements and controls. She specializes in the transportation, non-profit, distribution and contractors industries. Wendy is originally from Woodward, Iowa and received her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Accounting from Iowa State University. Currently, Wendy lives in Grimes with her husband, three children, and cat. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family and teaching a group fitness class at a local gym. To stay involved with her community, she is a sponsor for the West Des Moines Human Services Friends Foundation Sunday Supper event to raise funds to provide food and personal care products, school supplies, and many other resources to low income households in the community.
