CARE Waitakere Trust started as a dream in the hearts of a group of individuals who longed to see a social service agency in Te Atatu Peninsula. A particular need was identified for a professional counselling service which could offer high quality counselling to anyone in need of support, whether or not they were able to afford to pay the full fee. It was soon evident that there was also a great need for budgeting advice and support in the local community... Over the years, the demand for CARE's services has continued to increase. As our lease on the land in Te Atatū came to an end, we knew we needed to find a larger site in order to continuing extending and growing. In April 2023, we opened the doors of CARE Henderson, in Universal Drive. From here, we have been able to rapidly grow our team and our services, in order to keep up with the needs in our community. Our Te Atatū site closed in December of 2023, and a group of Te Atatū community members took over running the Community..
