"Sustainability Now" started in 2002. It was 10 years after the first Earth Summit in Rio in 1992. Rio ‘zero' was a landmark event where visionaries like Gro Brundtland, and Maurice Strong presented to the world the new concept of "Sustainable Development" defined as "development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs."
