The launch of AERC goes back to the late 1980s, when a group of Africanists and African scholars recognized the disconnect between economic policy making and economic research in Africa... AERC established the Central Bank Governors Forum to ensure African stakeholdership for long-term sustainability of the organisation's mission and work on the continent.
