Chief Financial Officer - Charlie Crevling is chief financial officer at Valley View. He earned his undergraduate degree in accounting and finance from the University of Washington, was a Washington CPA and later earned a master's of business in health care administration from the University of Colorado, Boulder.
As Valley View's chief financial officer, Charlie's top priority has been to expand Valley View's programs and businesses to meet the needs of our growing community. "The growth of the medial staff and expansion of cardiology across the Western Slope has been a highlight," he says.
Chief Compliance Officer - Christopher Adelman is chief compliance officer and acts as general counsel for Valley View. He earned his bachelor's degree from Fort Lewis College in Durango and law degree from the University of Baltimore Law School. He has been with Valley View since 2004.
Chris' law practice focuses on the health care industry, including a broad range of health care issues including medical staff issues, credentialing, peer review, corporate organization, patient care and consent issues, HIPAA matters, employee issues and compliance. "As compliance officer at Valley View, my function is to help the hospital comply with myriad regulatory rules and laws," says Chris. "In a way, I care for patients through the legal end, navigating the legal landscape that so providers can do their jobs."
Currently Chris is a member of the American Health Law Association, Health Care Compliance Association and Colorado Bar Association, and was recognized as one of "5 Health Law Attorneys to Know" by HealthValueDigest.
A former professional kayaker and outdoor guide, Chris was raised in Maryland and has lived in Colorado's Eagle Valley since 2004. Outside of work, Chris enjoys kayaking, skiing, climbing, paragliding and kitesurfing.

Chief Operating Officer - Daniel Biggs is chief operating officer at Valley View, where he has been a key leader since 2004. He holds a bachelor's degree in information technology and a master's of business administration in health care management from the University of Phoenix.
Daniel's career in health care began as a certified nursing assistant, and has since built a diverse background spanning several disciplines, including information technology, human resources and hospice care for individuals with HIV/AIDS. He is a board-certified health care executive and a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
Chief Medical Officer - David Brooks, MD is chief medical officer at Valley View and board-certified pediatrician physician at Pediatric Partners, which he founded with his wife Dr. Ellen Brooks. He earned his medical degree from the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center and completed his pediatric residency at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Prior to joining Valley View, Dr. Brooks help positions at Carolina's Medical Center and St. Mary Medical Center in Walla Walla, Washington. The Brookses opened Pediatric Partners in 2001 and he became Chief Medical Officer of Valley View in 2017 overseeing the quality and safety of care. Dr. Brooks is a certified physician executive from the American Association of Physician Leaders.
"I'm honored to be part of an organization that makes the patient the center of everything we do," he says. "The physicians, the nurses, and the staff are committed to putting patients first. As a pediatrician, I have seen this in practice each day and now as chief medical officer, I aim to support this concept of patients first to the entire community."
When working with patients, Dr. Brooks strives to ensure that health care is patient centered. "I take seriously the responsibility to treat the children in our community with excellence," he says.
A native of Denver, David has been in the Roaring Fork Valley since 2001. Outside of work, Dr. Brooks, an avid runner, likes to spend time outdoors and watching a good game of Denver Broncos football.

Chief Nursing Officer - Dawn Sculco is chief nursing officer at Valley View. She graduated in 1997 from University of Iowa with a bachelor of science in nursing, obtained a master's degree as a clinical nurse specialist in adult critical care and a doctorate of nursing practice from the University of Colorado.
Dawn has been a nurse for 25 years in a variety of clinical settings, from intensive care units to outpatient clinics. She began her career in academic health care settings and now enjoys the challenge of a rural, community-based hospital. She has robust experience in evidence-based practice implementation, nursing education, nursing leadership and health care finance. She is an innovative, hands-on leader that values the power of relationships and connections.
Dawn is passionate about creating the best environment for patients to heal, and is driven to support a hospital in which the entire health care team can perform at their best. "I'm very proud to be a nurse at Valley View," says Dawn. "This hospital provides a place where caregivers can to come to work and be the best they can be."
Dawn has been recognized with the Nursing Excellence Award for Leadership and Peak Performer Award from Rocky Mountain Hospital Medicine Symposium. She has presented at a variety of conferences and symposiums and has been published in the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses publications.
Chief Executive Officer - In 2019 Dr. Brian C. Murphy was named CEO of Valley View, solidifying his commitment to high-quality, safe, patient-centered care at Valley View and advancing its role as the leading independent health care provider in Western Colorado.
Dr. Murphy began his career in health care as a respected urologist, earning both his medical degree and completing his residency in urology at Duke University Medical Center. For 25 years Dr. Murphy cared for patients as a board-certified urologist, and for 18 years was a partner at Rocky Mountain Urology Associates. During that time, he also served as associate director of Duke's urology residency program for two years.
"Practicing medicine was a wonderful career," says Dr. Murphy. "Being a doctor is a privilege - to take someone in a vulnerable position and, hopefully, help them out. I took the opportunity to become CEO because I love this hospital, and the unique challenges of our region and appreciate the advanced services Valley View has committed to providing for our community."
At the core of Dr. Murphy's role as CEO is advancing Valley View's mission of caring for our community one patient at a time. He believes that quality care is the best driver of Valley View's culture, purpose and outcomes. Every day he looks forward to challenges, he says, and works to distill complex situations into succinct, effective solutions.
Before being named CEO, Dr. Murphy held a number of leadership positions at Valley View including chief of staff, chief medical officer and, for six years, trustee on the Valley View Board of Trustees. He has been published in a variety of medical journals and has been a featured speaker and presenter at more than a dozen heath care conferences
Dr. Murphy was born in Wilmington, Del., the son of an organic chemist and payroll administrator. He moved to the Roaring Fork Valley in 1998, where he raised two daughters, and in his free time enjoys fly fishing, cross-country skiing and trail running.

Chief Medical Information Officer - Foster Goss, DO, MMSc is an emergency physician and Chief Medical Information Officer (CMIO) at Valley View. He completed his residency at Albert Einstein Medical Center and pursued a National Library of Medicine fellowship in biomedical informatics at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Goss holds board certifications in both emergency medicine and clinical informatics.
Prior to joining Valley View, Dr. Goss worked at University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus where he was involved in many patient safety, quality and innovation efforts including the introduction of clinical pathways, real-time benefit check and artificial intelligence for chart summarization and sepsis prediction. Dr. Goss remains on faculty at the University of Colorado as an associate professor in emergency medicine and biomedical informatics, where he will continue his research.
Dr. Goss has received multiple federal grants, resulting in over 50 peer-reviewed publications and national conference presentations. His current interests include artificial intelligence, health-related social needs, electronic health record optimization and the impact of climate change on patient safety, equity and health care delivery.

Chief of Physician Operations - George Trantow is the chief of physician operations at Valley View. He earned his bachelor's degree in biology from the University of Wisconsin and his master's in health care administration from Baylor University. Currently he is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, a certified diplomat with the American College of Medical Practice Executives and member of the Medical Group Management Association.

Executive Director of Quality and Patient Safety - Rob Nelson is a both a physician assistant at Valley View's Internal Medicine practice and a member of the hospital's leadership team, serving as executive director of quality and patient safety. After earning a bachelor's degree in biology and chemistry, Rob earned his physician assistant degree from University of Colorado School of Medicine.
Rob is a primary care provider and is board certified in advanced diabetes management. He specializes in diabetes, including specific knowledge of insulin pumps, continuous glucose monitoring, medication, weight management and blood sugar control.
"I have a strong calling to help people heal and even more so for preventive and longevity care," he says. "I spend sufficient time connecting with patients, ensuring their voices are heard so that they are in the driver's seat."
As executive director of quality and patient safety, Rob is committed to making Valley View the safest and most respected health care venue in Western Colorado. He is dedicated to advancing the triple aim of improving care: better outcomes, improved patient experience and reduced cost. A fourth pillar is sometimes also included-sustainability and working to avoid provider and staff burnout.
Rob sits on the Valley Health Alliance's Clinical Advisory Board, is an adjunct instructor at Colorado Mesa University's Physician Assistant program and is on the board of trustees at Ross Montessori School in Carbondale.
Rob grew up in Glenwood Springs. After 10 years spent on Colorado's Front Range, he returned to his hometown in 2011. Today he and his wife and son enjoy skiing, camping, biking, traveling and giving belly rubs to the family's golden retriever, Maizy.

Chief Information Officer & Information Security Officer -Ryan Kolczak is chief information officer and information security officer at Valley View. He earned his bachelor's degree in computer information systems from DeVry University and his master's degree in information systems management from Keller Graduate School of Management.
Prior to joining Valley View, Ryan served as director of technical operations at Vail Health and previously as a network consultant supporting independent providers across Colorado, Wyoming and Montana. Ryan joined Valley View as director of technical services in 2020.
Ryan works to provide exemplary support to the doctors and nurses who care for Valley View patients, and is a strong advocate for building and supporting fast, accurate and efficient technology deployment across Valley View's multiple systems.
"My job is to make Valley View more modern, more reliable and maintain patient confidence by delivering technology and applications that improve outcomes," he says. "Data at their fingertips is a promise and that is my job to bring it forward."
Originally from Great Falls, Montana, Ryan has been a resident of in the Eagle Valley since 2013. He is the father of two children, and an advisory board member for CHIME's CHISL certification. He also volunteers on the Three Rivers Little League board, as well as coaching and growing the girls' softball program. He loves hiking, snowshoeing, fishing, offroad driving and is pursuing his goal of visiting every national park in the United States.

Chief Community Relations Officer - Stacey Gavrell is chief community relations officer at Valley View. She earned her bachelor's degree in government from the College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia, and her master's degree in health care administration from Colorado State University.
Stacey joined Valley View in 2009 working with the Valley View Foundation, the fundraising arm for Valley View. In partnership with the Foundation's Board, community volunteers and donors, over $7 million was raised to support the construction of Calaway Young Cancer Center, bringing comprehensive, world-class cancer care to the region. Subsequently, Stacey became the chief community relations office, leading the development of the Valley View marketing and communications teams as well as oversight of the spiritual care team.
Stacey is a member of the Society for Healthcare Strategy and Market Development (SHSMD) and the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy (AHP). Stacey has been recipient of the ATHENA Young Professional Award and named Top 25 Chief Community Officers of 2024 by Women We Admire.
Outside of work, Stacey serves on a handful of local nonprofit boards including the Glenwood Springs Chamber of Commerce and West Mountain Regional Health Alliance. She is an avid runner, who spends the bulk of her time cheering on her kids in life, school and sports.
