TITAN

1993 is a promising year for new initiatives in the field of European broadcasting! Following the failure of the HDMAC / D2MAC project for analogue high definition television, the European industry is setting up DVB (Digital Video Broadcasting). The latter will standardize DVB-S for digital satellite television and shortly thereafter DVB-C for digital cable TV. In this technological concert, ISO standardizes the MPEG2 standard in Singapore in late 1994! All the ingredients (modulation and compression) are available for a Set Top Box prototype project that the Titan non-profit organization launched in March 1994. With the preparatory work of the "Carrefours de l'audio-visuel", it has in its midst industrial and operational skills required to design and develop a digital television experience.
