MICHEL WINTERBERG

The work of Michel Winterberg (*1972 Basel, lives and works in Basel) mostly consists of interactive video and sound installations. He constantly questions the reordering of the sensuous matter and the interactive dialogue with the viewer. However, Winterberg's questions on these conversations do not only revolve around digital mediators. Rather, he finds himself as part of the urban context, in which things, materiality, mediality and people interact in complex ways. The trained electromechanic and process designer uses his sensitivity for the non-human actor to enter into an artistic conversation with things and their materiality. Michel Winterberg has been working with electronic music and sound design since the early 90s. He holds a federal diploma in electromechanics and completed a Bachelor of Arts in in process design at the HyperWerk Institute of the Academy of Art and Design FHNW in Basel.
