Captain Ben Merrill grew up living and boating in Yarmouth and enjoyed spending time outdoors with his family and volunteering for his son's Boy Scout pack. He worked as a Certified Technician & Product Support Specialist for Yarmouth Boat Yard for 11 years. He received numerous certifications from ABYC, Garmin, Evinrude, Mercury, MerCruiser, Honda, Yamaha, Raymarine, Garmin, Pursuit Technology, Volvo Penta, Teleflex, and NEMA. He's also earned his Advanced Marine Electronic Installer Certification from NMEA and his USCG 6 pack Captain's license. He prided himself on assisting customers with boat repairs, electronics installations, and new boat Captain trainings.
Sadly, Ben died suddenly in May of 2020. A true character and constant fixture in the yard, his loss is felt deeply by the Yarmouth Boat Yard crew. He will always be an honorary member of our team.

Born and raised in South Portland, Maine, Derek has spent his entire life on the water. A retired U.S. Coast Guard Captain, Derek dedicated over 20 years to saving, assisting, and educating mariners and recreational boaters in some of the most hazardous waterways.
His technical abilities in seamanship reached a milestone in April 2011, when he was awarded Coast Guard Surfman number 455. This prestigious honor is only bestowed upon the most highly trained and skilled boat handlers who are qualified to operate rescue boats in unpredictable and treacherous breaking surf conditions. It recognizes his technical proficiency in boat handling, sound leadership, and judgement.
In addition to being a USCG Licensed Captain, Derek is also a certified instructor for both the National Safe Boating Council and US Powerboat Handling courses.
In June 2022, Derek joined the Marina Holdings LLC team, taking on the role of Director of Training for Freedom Boat Club of Maine and Maine Boating Academy. With his nearly three decades of boating experience and exceptional training style, Derek helped boaters of all calibers gain more confidence and greater skills on the water.
Derek shifted over to Sales in 2024. He enjoys helping people find the boat that best fits their lifestyle and budget.

Captain Ryan Coffin joined Yarmouth Boat Yard in 2005 as a certified technician and through his hard work, training and skill development, he has achieved shop foreman status.
Ryan's mechanical aptitude was clear at a young age when he won 1st place in the Vocational Industrial Clubs of American, Inc. (VICA), a statewide competition in small engine service and repair.
Ryan first began working in the marine industry in high school at Dover Marine in New Hampshire, graduating top of his class with a marine technology degree. Ryan is a Mercury, Yamaha, and Suzuki technician and is pursuing his master's certification with Yamaha.
"What I enjoy most about working at Yarmouth Boat Yard is being the leader of a team with a common goal. Every hour is different and certainly keeps me on my toes. It's important to all of us that we help make boating safe, enjoyable, and hassle-free for our customers," says Ryan.
Ryan resides in East Waterboro. In his spare time, Ryan enjoys fishing with his family and hunting in Western Maine.

A graduate of the Marine Mechanics Institute, Carl achieved a 4.0 GPA and received awards for perfect attendance. With nearly a decade of marine tech experience, Carl still loves to learn new skills. When not working, he enjoys lake fishing, hiking, camping, pond hockey and spending time with his daughter.

Dana Jensen joins Yarmouth Boat Yard with a wealth of experience in the machine and commercial boat industry. With over 27 years of welding, fabricating, re-powering boats, and managing machine shops, Dana is self-taught and nationally recognized as an expert in his trade.
Dana has received certifications in Yanmar (small and large), Yamaha, Westerbeke, Crusader, Caterpillar, ABYC Diesel Propulsion and others. He can work on just about anything from re-powers to diesel engines and propulsion issues as he has a knack for precision. With a great passion for the marine industry, Dana enjoys everything it entails from building customer relationships to overcoming the challenges of a stubborn boat issue.
In his off time, Dana will be on his boat bass fishing or "up north" with his wife at camp, riding their 4-wheeler. He also takes great pride in volunteering and sending packages to Veterans and someday would like to develop a program to take Veterans on fishing trips. Dana is very proud of his son, United States Army Staff Sergeant Ryan Jensen (thank you for your service), daughter-in-law and two beautiful grandchildren.

A Portland, Maine native and a golf and kayaking enthusiast, Emily resides in the Lakes Region with her partner, daughter, and stepson. Her home is completed by my two beloved dogs, Beaumont and Lou.
Having graduated from Deering High School in Portland, she pursued her love of the sciences at Beal University in Bangor for a B.S. in Biomedical Sciences. She then discovered a passion for finance and became a senior loan officer, bookkeeper, and accountant before coming onboard with Marina Holdings as a Controller. Emily also currently holds a Notary Public commission in the State of Maine.

Gary Jackson and his family have shared a love for Maine for over four decades. Their cottage on Thompson Lake has been the family center, enjoyed by friends, kids and now grandkids! Gary and his wife raised their family in Douglas, Massachusetts, in the home they built together in 1984.
The biggest joy for Gary is seeing the look on a customer's face when they are behind the helm of their new dream boat. He truly believes that boating is an experience every family should have.
When not working, Gary can be found out on the water, soaking up the sun and fresh air.

Jon Paul grew up in Auburn, Maine and spent much of his time sailing with his father on their 19' Lightening. His father has been a product engineer for a local yacht builder for over 35years, giving Jon a firm appreciation and understanding of boats.
Jon graduated from Edward Little High School and later received a B.S. & A.S. in Information Technology. He enjoys working with electronics, disc golfing year-round, and snowshoeing in the winter.

Karen has been working for Steve since 2007, starting at Yarmouth Boat Yard in the Service Department. There she handled everything from scheduling to warranty and billing to parts. In 2014, Karen began working at Moose Landing Marina in the Office Manager position handling bookkeeping, human resources, and accounts payable, along with many other duties. Now she is the Chief Operations Officer for all Marina Holdings businesses.
Karen grew up and remains living in Cumberland with her husband, 2 children, 1 dog, and 2 cats.

Kelli Wallace started out in our service department as a top-notch detailer. Always looking to promote from within, when a Receptionist/Sales Assistant job became available, we knew Kelli would be a great fit. Eager to learn and grow, Kelli has since advanced to the role of Office Manager.
On her off hours, Kelli enjoys spending time outdoors with her children, family and friends.

Mike grew up in South Boston and attended University of Massachusetts, Amherst. After college Mike joined the Coast Guard and began his training as a machinery technician and engineer in Virginia and was later stationed in Portland and Rockland, Maine.
"The Coast Guard was a great experience. I traveled from one end of the Maine coast to the other and navigated every river in between. I've seen every lighthouse in Maine. I feel fortunate because most people will never get a chance to enjoy experiences like those."
After serving four years in the Coast Guard, Michael began working at various businesses with responsibilities for overhauling and trouble-shooting diesel engines on large fishing vessels and yachts, and serving as a mechanic working with outboard engines.
Michael began his tenure with Yarmouth Boat Yard in 2009 as a Certified Technician and has become an integral part of the team. "It's a great feeling to be part of an organization that is evolving and changing. New boat lines, a new storage and service center, the acquisition of Moose Landing Marina, are all examples of the growth and advances we have been making at Yarmouth Boat Yard," said Mike. "I also love being on the river and the crew and customers here are great people."

Mike started working for our sister marina, Moose Landing, when he was in high school. His skills and responsibilities have steadily grown. Over the years, his job roles have included assisting in the rental shack, to rigging, to detailing, to advanced mechanical installs, to boat delivery captain, and now as a Sales Consultant for both Moose Landing Marina and Yarmouth Boat Yard.
A Casco native, Mike enjoys boating in the summers and once the snow flies, you can find him snowmobiling.

Born in Connecticut, Paul moved north to Maine and now resides in Bath. He holds a Bachelor of Science from Rochester Institute of Technology and is an avid sailor and boating enthusiast. Prior to coming aboard with Yarmouth Boat Yard, Paul was the Primary Captain aboard the Eastwind Schooner in Boothbay Harbor and worked at Yankee Marina. Shannon joined the busy sales department at Moose Landing to assist with internet sales efforts. Since then she has advanced to assist customers with their boat financing needs at both Moose Landing Marina and Yarmouth Boat Yard. When not busy helping customers buy boats, she enjoys traveling and taste testing new craft beer offerings.

Sonya manages our parts and warranty departments. Originally from Chebeague Island, she enjoys fishing, hiking, camping, and boating. She used to work in the lobstering industry and enjoyed boating and being on the water so much that she never left working with boats.
Originally from Fort Lauderdale, Steve Arnold grew up working in marinas. He started out as a yard hand and worked his way up to management roles before heading to college at Florida State University. After earning his MBA and his private pilot's license, Steve embarked on a career in finance.
Seeking a more enriching quality of life, Steve moved to Maine in 2000 to enjoy family time 'the way life should be'. He purchased Yarmouth Boat Yard in January 2004.
In 2013, Steve capitalized on the opportunity to expand his business footprint by buying Moose Landing Marina in Naples, the largest on water facility in Maine's lakes region.
Under Steve's guidance Yarmouth Boat Yard and Moose Landing Marina have both grown exponentially and have made significiant improvements to their facilities. They are both Five Star Certified and Top 100 Dealers. Striving to deliver above the competition by providing exceptional accommodations and impeccable customer service has paid off, helping the company earn a spot on the Inc. 5000 list for fastest growing companies and as one of the Best Places to Work in Maine.

Tim Raymond began with Yarmouth Boat Yard in March of 2015 and brings many valued boating industry skills.
While living in California managing bars and restaurants in the Squaw Valley ski area, Tim needed an outlet during the off season - which led him to sailing. This opportunity allowed him to cross two oceans, run a boat in the Mediterranean Sea, and acquire a captain's license.
In 2004, Tim moved back to Maine and attended the Landing School of Boat Building in Arundel, Maine to further complete his boat knowledge. There he graduated from the Marine Systems Program and has been in the industry as a technician/project manager ever since.
Tim is NMEA certified advanced electronics installer, an ABYC certified electrician, and a certified Garmin/Raymarine installer. He also has a Bachelor of Science in Business Management and strives for efficient processes and high quality dependable service.
When he's not working, Tim can be found doing most anything outdoors. His passions include boating, kayaking, paddle boarding, biking, back country skiing, as well as any charitable road runs.

Tracy Coughlin joined the Yarmouth Boat Yard team in June of 2016. With over 25 years of marketing experience, she assists all Marina Holdings entities, including Yarmouth Boat Yard, Moose Landing Marina, Freedom Boat Club of Maine, Maine Boating Academy, Sea Tox, and Sea Taxi with their marketing, PR, and promotion efforts.
