Dr. Weiswasser received a BA in Molecular and Cellular Biology from Northwestern University in 1989, and his MD from New York University School of Medicine in 1993. Dr. Weiswasser then completed training in General Surgery at NYU Medical Center in 2000, during which time he also did extensive research on liquid ventilation and extracorporeal membrane oxygenation at Columbia University in New York. He completed the prestigious fellowship in Vascular Surgery at NYU in 2001, with expertise in endovascular surgery. Dr. Weiswasser then was hired and named the Director of Vascular Surgery at the Washington VA Medical Center, where he was the first in Washington, DC to perform an endovenous saphenous ablation for varicose vein disease as well as an endovascular abdominal aneurysm repair. He was also Associate Professor of Surgery at George Washington University and was lead author of several clinical and basic science manuscripts. After four years at the VA, Dr. Weiswasser moved to New Jersey, joining Vascular Associates of New Jersey. In 2008, as his interest in the growing field of minimally invasive vein treatment grew, Dr. Weiswasser partnered with The Plastic Surgery Center of Shrewsbury, NJ to form the Aesthetic Vascular Associates, a full service vein treatment center. Dr. Weiswasser is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, a Registered Vascular Technologist, and a member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Vascular Surgery.
