Dr. Mauricio R. Chavez earned his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Chicago, Illinois in 2003. He completed his Ophthalmology residency at the University of Illinois Eye and Ear Infirmary in 2007. Dr. Chavez also completed an American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery sponsored two-year fellowship in Oculofacial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the Oregon Health & Science University - Casey Eye Institute in Portland, Oregon in 2009. After his fellowship, he was in private practice in Colorado and California. He was recruited by Vancouver Eye Care to better care for our patients and to expand services for our referring physicians.
Dr. Michael C. Kim obtained his medical degree and a Master's degree in Biomedical Science from Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri. He then completed his ophthalmology residency at the University of California-Irvine. Dr. Kim then furthered his training by completing a fellowship in Cornea/External Disease/Refractive Surgery at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute at the University of Miami.
After completing his medical training, Dr. Kim joined Vancouver Eye Care in 2000 as a board-certified ophthalmologist. Dr. Kim serves as the President of Vancouver Eye Care, PS, and Secretary/ Treasurer of the Vancouver Eye Care Surgery & Laser Center and serves on the Governing Body. He also serves as a member of Vancouver Eye Care's Executive Team where he helps to guide the administrative affairs of the practice.
Dr. Theresa L. Clayton graduated magna cum laude with majors in Biology and Chemistry from the State University of New York, Potsdam College. She completed her medical degree at New York Medical College in Valhalla, New York. After an internship at St. Vincent Hospital and Medical Center in New York City she returned to New York Medical College for ophthalmology training. A corneal research fellowship followed at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston. Following this training, Dr. Clayton completed her ophthalmology residency at what is now the Casey Eye Institute at Oregon Health Sciences University.
