SCHMIDT AND BARTELT FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES - Key Persons
Name your favorite outdoor festival or community event and chances are you'll find Bob in attendance. Summertime is the time Bob loves to get out and hangout with family and friends, especially when it's State Fair time. That may seem like a full schedule to most, but not for Bob. In addition to being vice president of Schmidt & Bartelt, he also coaches the softball team. It may come as no surprise to learn Bob is an avid fitness fan. In order to keep the schedule he does, you'd have to be! He is a member of Kiwanis Club of Wauwatosa and Mt. Carmel Lutheran Church in Milwaukee. He graduated from Wauwatosa West High School in 1978, earned a Business Degree from UW-Eau Claire in 1982, and after graduating from the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science in 1992, he returned home to join the family business as a fourth-generation funeral director.
Dustin is a fun-loving, thoughtful guy. When he's not outdoors golfing, on his Harley riding, or cheering on the Packers, Brewers or Bucks, he is helping families through difficult times. Dustin graduated from West Allis Central High School and proudly served in the United States Marine Corps. He currently resides in Brookfield with his daughter Samantha. Funeral Service is Dustin's true passion. He began serving families in 1993 and joined Schmidt & Bartelt in 2015.
Running a marathon is no easy task, yet Jim has successfully crossed the finish line in four of them. His best time is 3 hours 53 minutes and 54 seconds, breaking the four-hour barrier, which is an impressive accomplishment by anyone's standard. Jim will tell you he is always training for the next marathon. That must be the military man in him, as Jim is a US Army veteran. Jim is originally from Antigo, Wisconsin, but today lives in Brookfield. He attended UW-Eau Claire before continuing on to MATC to earn his Mortuary Science degree. Jim has been a funeral director with Schmidt & Bartelt since 1996.
John was raised in Antigo, Wisconsin with his four siblings and began his career in funeral service at Schmidt and Bartelt Wauwatosa in 1988 as an apprentice while attending Milwaukee Area Technical College. He earned his Wisconsin Funeral Director License in 1990 and spent much of his career in Rhinelander before returning to Schmidt and Bartelt in 2020 to work alongside his brother, Jim. John married his wife, Amy in 1994 and they enjoy annual trips to Sanibel Island, Florida for shelling adventures along the Gulf coast as well as time spent with their nieces and nephews. John and Amy reside in Brookfield and are members of Christ the Lord Lutheran Church. John has a deep appreciation for the responsibility of providing respectful and compassionate assistance to the families and their loved ones entrusted to his care and strives to treat each of his families not as clients but as friends.

- General Manager Mukwonago
Mike has coached the Menomonee Falls Little League All-Star team each year since 2006. The part of it that Mike enjoys the most is the playful nature of the kids. No big league contracts. Just kids having the time of their lives. Better still, the pure enjoyment Mike receives from coaching his two sons and watching his daughter swim is the best part of it all. He grew up in Wild Rose, Wisconsin, but makes his home today in Mukwonago. He is actively involved in numerous organizations throughout the community, and is an active member of Brooklife Church in Mukwonago. A graduate of MATC's Mortuary Science program in 1994, he joined Schmidt & Bartelt in 2005.
As a fourth-generation funeral director, Steve's career patch began by earning a degree in Business from UW-Stevens Point. He then attended the New England Institute in Boston to earn his degree in Funeral Service. Long before he decided to follow that route, Steve began playing hockey. Today he plays in a rec league and sponsors the team. But that is only one side of Steve's fitness enthusiasm, as he also participates in triathlons and has completed two Ironman competitions. Yet, he doesn't skip a beat running the family business-or being home with his family. Which is testament to Steve's commitment to others-maybe even more to time management skills. A past president of the Brookfield Optimist Club and Funeral Service Alliance, and a member of the Wauwatosa Chamber of Commerce, Steve lives in Menomonee Falls where he and his family belong to Holy Cross Lutheran Church.
