The National Center for Health Promotion under the Ministry of Health was founded in 1997. From 1985 to 1997, the Centre was named "Center for Sanitation and Hygiene, Health Education and Primary Health Care". The National Center for Health Promotion performs its function as an executive body unit of the Ministry of Health in behavior change communication of the public and encourages provider behavior change, tobacco and alcohol control, implementation of clients' and providers' rights and strengthening the system of community engagement by developing national policies, guidelines, laws and legislations as well as capacity building.
