The mission of the Optoelectronic Methods for Biomedical Applications Department is to contribute in improving the health and life quality of individuals and populations through the development of advanced optical methods for diagnostic and therapy based on multidisciplinary studies conducted at molecular, cellular, tissular and organ levels. To accomplish this mission, the OMBA department conducts research and development in various areas of photodynamic therapy, low-level laser therapy, diffuse reflectance spectrometry, fluorescence spectrometry, infrared imaging, and hyperspectral imaging, aiming to meet the demands of the medical world about faster and more effective diagnostic methods as well as more reliable, time-efficient and less invasive therapeutic methods using laser radiation. Through our interdisciplinary collaborations that bring together physicists, biologists and physicians, we strive to implement this mission to the highest professional and ethical standards.
