Carla Boyd Terre, family law attorney and mediator, is a Certified Family Law Specialist by the California State Bar Board of Legal Specialization and is rated an "AV Preeminent" attorney by Martindale Hubbell Peer Review Ratings. Carla was the President of the Sonoma County Bar Association (SCBA) in 2015. She was one of the founding members of the Mental Health Liaison Committee, a subcommittee of the Family Law Section of SCBA. She served as a Commissioner on the Family Law Advisory Committee of the California State Bar from 2013 through 2016.
Carla is currently a member of the Family Law Section of the State Bar of California, SCBA, the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts, Women in Law, and the Family Law Section of SCBA. Carla has been named one of Northern California's "Rising Stars" ten years in a row by Super Lawyers from 2010 to 2019. Carla was named to Northern California Super Lawyers for the last five years (2020 through 2024).
Carla is a 2003 graduate of the University of San Francisco School of Law, graduating in the top 25% of her class. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in English, with honors, from Mills College in Oakland, California. During her third year in law school, Carla served as an Extern for Justice Maria Rivera of the California Court of Appeal and then as a Law Clerk for the Sonoma County Department of Child Support Services.
Carla Boyd Terre's practice is dedicated strictly to family law matters. She handles most aspects of family law proceedings, including custody and visitation, property division, registered domestic partnerships, same sex and LGBTQ family law matters, adoption, child support, spousal support, pre-nuptial/pre-marital and post-marital agreements, and mediation. Carla attends mediation with clients and serves as a mediator for parties with and without lawyers present. Carla also serves as Parenting Coordinator in custody cases and has served as a Private Judge.
Carla has appeared at numerous contested family law proceedings including appearances before the California Court of Appeal in San Francisco. She has appeared in Sonoma County Superior Court, Marin County Superior Court, Napa County Superior Court, Lake County Superior Court, and Mendocino County Superior Court. Carla is experienced in mediation and negotiation and has helped many clients reach settlements or limit the issues that proceed to litigation.
Carla believes that an effective family law attorney stays in close communication with her client, working together to reach appropriate resolutions to the unique situations in each case. Carla is compassionate and understands that clients that are working with her are often going through one of the most difficult times in their lives.
Carla also believes it is important to stay informed about developments in family law and attends regular trainings and seminars in addition to receiving weekly publications which provide important updates on recent family law cases and legislative changes.
Recently she has been serving more frequently as a Mediator in family law matters.
When Carla is not practicing law, she enjoys spending time with her husband, two children and their labradoodle, reading, doing Pilates, and hiking.

Janessa McCune is a Certified Family Law Specialist by the California State Bar Board of Legal Specialization. Janessa is currently the Secretary of Sonoma County Women Law this year (2024) and has served on the Sonoma County Women in Law Board in varying positions since 2021. She is also a member of the Family Law Steering Committee, a subsection of the Sonoma County Bar Association.
Janessa has an extensive background in Domestic Violence work as she volunteered for Legal Aid of Sonoma County for two years assisting hundreds of people in the restraining order process. Her law practice has continued at Terre Family Law, Inc. in all aspects of family law, including divorce, custody, visitation, child support, spousal support, and domestic violence cases. Her focus is helping people get through some of the most difficult times in their lives whether it be through negotiating a settlement or litigating the case.
Graduating in the top 20% from Southwestern Law School in 2010, Janessa was a member of Southwestern Journal of International Law for two years and served as a Special Projects and Research Editor during her third year. She was also a member of the Trial Advocacy Honors Program, a trial team that was coached by local assistant district attorneys, federal prosecutors, and notable Southwestern Alumni. Janessa interned for the Los Angeles District Attorney's Sex Crimes Unit and interned for Los Angeles Superior Court Judge David S. Wesley.
When Janessa is not practicing law, she enjoys seeking out the newest restaurants, spending time with family, making elaborate dinners, traveling to new places, reading novels, playing complex strategic board games, and spoiling her two dogs.

Attorney Nicole "Nico" Grae Smith is a 2013 graduate of Golden Gate University School of Law, graduating in the top 20% of her class with distinction in Family Law. She holds a bachelor's degree from American Jewish University, where she graduated magna cum laude in Communications, Arts, and Advocacy. She previously owned and operated the Law Office of Nicole Grae Smith. Prior to operating her own firm, she was the managing attorney for Berg and Associates in Redding and an associate attorney for the Reape Rickett Law Firm in Los Angeles. Named one of Northern California's "Rising Stars" every year for the last seven years, Nico has handled cases in Sonoma, Shasta, Lake, Butte, Tehama, Siskiyou, Trinity, Modoc, Humboldt, Glenn, Alameda, Los Angeles, San Diego, and San Francisco counties.

Nicole Trick received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Women's and Gender Studies and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Environmental Studies and Planning in 2013. Nicole also has her Associates Degree in Paralegal Studies in 2016. While at Sonoma State University she was a part of the Alpha Gamma Delta Foundation and received a Certificate of Academic Excellence. She also volunteered at the National Women's Studies Association's Annual Conference and in 2013 received the Educational Opportunity Program's Distinguished Senior Award and the Dr. Richard A. Rodriguez Social Justice Action Award. Nicole enjoys boating, DIY crafts, and spending time with her family and her three cats. After 5 years of working at a mechanics shop and going to school, Nicole decided to enter the field of Family Law, when she joined Terre Family Law, Inc.
