DUMFRIES ANIMAL HOSPITAL - Key Persons
Dr. Johnston grew up in Pittsburgh, PA. After receiving a B.S. in Animal Bioscience at Penn State, she then proceeded to Purdue University to graduate with a DVM degree in 1986. She has worked at a few hospitals/clinics in Virginia since her graduation, starting with a job that included large animals. In 1989, Dr. Johnston chose to concentrate on small animals and has worked all but two years at Dumfries Animal Hospital since 1990. Her areas of interest include internal medicine and surgical procedures, but most of all meeting people. At home, Dr. Johnston is very busy and having fun being a wife and mother of four girls and caring for "Penny" her Dachshund mix.
Daria Olinger DVM grew up in Roanoke, VA. She received her B.S in Biochemistry before graduating in 2016 with her D.V.M degree from Virginia Tech.
Her areas of interest include internal medicine and surgery.
She currently lives in Manasass with her beloved dog, Clara.
Dr. Courtney Breen grew up in Texas. She received her Bachelor's degree in Animal Science from Stephen F. Austin State University, and went on to obtain her D.V.M degree from Louisiana State University in 2007. Dr. Breen's areas of interest include wellness and dermatology.
Dr. Breen has been a proud USMC spouse since 1999 and is enjoying living in northern Virginia surrounded by so many wonderful military families. She lives with her husband, two kids who are her greatest accomplishments and two German Short hair Pointers who keep her on her toes.
Dr. Gershman grew up in Florida. She received her Bachelor's Degree from the University of Florida in 2004, and went on to earn her D.V.M. degree from Kansas State University in 2008. After graduating she joined our team here at D.A.H. Dr. Gershman became the medical director in January of 2014 and recently became the owner as of July of 2017. She enjoys living in Burke with her husband Scott, son Quinn, and Miniature Schnauzer Thai.
Dr. Chaing grew up in Alexandria, VA. After receiving her bachelor's degree from the University of Virginia in 2013, she took a few years off to work as a veterinary assistant. She then received her DVM degree from Ohio State University in May of 2020. Her areas of interest are surgery and dentistry. She currently lives in Dale City with her fiancé Alex, chihuahua mix Marshall and cat James. Outside of work she loves traveling, exploring the outdoors and binge-watching shows on Netflix.
Dr. Chittenden grew up in Clifton, Virginia. She attended NOVA and received an AAS in Veterinary Medicine, and became a Licensed Veterinary Technician in 1985.
She worked as an assistant, then an LVT from 1984 to 1988. Dr. Chittenden then went back to college and proceeded to attain her BS from the University of West Florida in 1990.
She earned her DVM degree from the University of Missouri in 1994. After graduation in 1994, Dr. Chittenden joined the team at Dumfries Animal Hospital. Her areas of interest are internal medicine and wellness.
