Anthony founded Swanbarton in 2003 to provide consultancy services in network connected energy storage. His experience spans business and market analysis for power and network companies, project development and commercialisation plans, regulatory advice and due diligence. Anthony received an OBE in 2021 in recognition of his services to the energy storage industry.

Aprille Denton is the company Office Manager. With 30yrs experience in EA/PA and administrative management positions, Aprille offers organisational and project planning skills, highly beneficial to the team. Before joining Swanbarton, Aprille worked as Executive Assistant for C-Suite in EMEA manufacturing, US mobile technology, the health service and the Ministry of Defense. Aprille understands the cost and time constraint pressures of an R&D / manufacturing environment and provides the necessary support needed, to keep us on track. Aprille has also owned and run her own catering business.
Chris Price is a certified PRINCE2 Practitioner with over 20 years of experience managing and delivering successful projects, including three Innovate UK projects. Chris is a chartered mechanical engineer who joined Swanbarton in 2020 and has acted as a consultant on projects to install batteries for marine propulsion, shore powering vessels in port, the development of microgrids and low-cost storage for users without a reliable grid connection. Prior to joining Swanbarton, Chris acted as project manager and lead engineer for large capital projects. He has worked with global companies in various sectors, including oil, chemical, aerospace and automotive.
David is Swanbarton's Technology Consultant, highly experienced in managing the whole software development lifecycle. He has successfully delivered software projects in the energy sector, including energy systems modelling and simulation, a smart energy trading platform, battery control and optimisation software, and a distributed microgrid control system. He also has many years of practical experience with off-grid power systems. David is integral to the team, developing battery controls and system integration. His innovative thinking has secured several patents and patents pending.
Hamish Campbell is a software analyst with experience in creating battery control algorithms and modelling the energy needs of a site, and how renewable assets and batteries can be mobilised to resolve these needs. Previously Hamish studied mathematics at the University of Nottingham, where he was awarded the Alan Rose prize for mathematics student with best overall performance and the School Achievements' Prize.
James Hancock drives Swanbarton's innovation to ensure the company's consultancy and software engineering services stay at the cutting edge. He is a data scientist focusing on artificial intelligence with over 10 years of experience in the energy sector. James has successfully developed and run multiple innovation projects from concept development and consortium building through to system deployment and analysis. James' work at Swanbarton also includes model building, implementing AI-enabled systems, and undertaking consultancy work from a data-orientated stance. He was recently awarded a distinction in his Master of Artificial Intelligence from the University of Bath, where he focused on the use of reinforcement learning for energy system optimisation. Before working at Swanbarton, James worked in the offshore energy industry, helping deliver high-value projects on time and on budget.
James Jinks started his career in retail but switched to become a freelance software consultant and developer. In December 2021 James completed a three-month intensive coding bootcamp run by Northcoders, James joined Swanbarton in February 2022 and has worked on developing software for power forecasting and machine learning.

Jez supports our work with our consultancy and innovation clients. Jez started his working career as a software developer and has held several senior roles in business development, quality assurance and information security.

Ross Challinor is a software engineer with over 6 years of experience modelling complex physical systems, interpreting data and exploring the potential of machine learning and artificial intelligence. Since joining Swanbarton, he has led efforts to increase computational efficiency in proprietary software and works to foster a scientific mindset. Ross recently completed his PhD in Quantum Optics at the University of Bath.
Terry Norton is Swanbarton's software lead, overseeing the management of the development team and coordinating the engineering of cloud and edge systems. With over 10 years of combined academic and professional experience, he has specialised in leading data science and engineering teams to develop AI/ML production systems that govern the entire AI/ML lifecycle. These systems have been applied across various industry verticals including Aerospace, Defence, Healthcare, and Education.
