ST. JOHN OGILVIE

In 1979 the Easter Ross Peninsula split off from the Dingwall Parish and set up as a distinct unit under the title of the Parish of St. John Ogilvie. Hugh, Canon Malaney was its first Parish Priest... An existing church, dedicated to St. Joseph, was at Invergordon and a new house and chapel were built in Alness. The Parish owned a house in St. Vincent Road, Tain, but there was no permanent place of worship in the town... 1917 The American Navy built a timber hut with a tin roof as a chapel, just off the east end of the High Street in Invergordon. It was dedicated to St. Joseph and was served from Dingwall, often with one Mass a month.
