PHILIP UNDERWOOD

I trained at Bretton Hall College of Education (Leeds University) as a Primary School Teacher and Music Specialist. During this period I studied the piano with concert pianist Keith Swallow. I qualified as a teacher in June 1984. I taught on a full time basis from 1984-1991 working firstly at Great Moor Infant School before moving to Cheadle Primary School in 1987. I returned to work as a supply teacher in 1997 once our sons, Timothy and Daniel, were in full time education. I have worked in a number of schools including Nevill Rd Infants, Ladybrook Primary School and Hursthead Primary School. I trained at the Royal Northern College of Music and at Liverpool University. I have given recitals throughout Britain and in France and Germany. I qualified as a teacher in June 1981. I was awarded a composition prize in the USA in the 2008 Alienor Harpsichord Competition. My organ composition "St.Deiniol's Well" was featured in the Second Annual Festival of New Organ Music held in London in..
