BAJS was established in 1974 and the Association was launched in order to promote the study of Japan both in the United Kingdom and internationally, in particular by stimulating teaching and research... BAJS offers a range of funding to postgraduate students to support research and conference attendance... The membership of BAJS generally consists of faculty and students at UK universities, but is open to anyone with an interest in supporting Japanese Studies. BAJS Council is chosen by the membership to further the Association's aims and interests.
