Mr Shortt is a leading ophthalmic surgeon and an expert in the fields of cornea, cataract and refractive surgery. He has 20 years experience of cataract and lens exchange surgery, 10 years experience of laser eye surgery and performs over 2,000 of these procedures per year.

Improving patient outcomes is fundamental to his practice and thus, Mr. Hamid is involved in the evaluation of new intraocular lenses prior to market launch, teaching Surgeons how to perform laser vision correction and refractive lens exchange or refractive cataract surgery. As a Key Opinion Leader in Vision Correction he is regularly invited to speak and teach at National and International Vision Correction Conferences.
In addition he is a highly acclaimed clinical investigator, always at the forefront of new refractive treatments and technologies. Mr Bataung Mokete is a Consultant Ophthalmologist at St James's University Hospital, Leeds.
Mr Mokete qualified from medical school at the University of Bristol in 1992, and continued his ophthalmic training on the South Thames rotation of the London Deanery.
He then completed advanced subspecialty training in medical retina at Moorfields before completing a vitreoretinal surgery Fellowship in Brighton and a further Fellowship at St Thomas' Hospital in London.

Dan Nguyen is a NHS Consultant Ophthalmologist and the Lead Clinician for Glaucoma at Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Mr Nguyen joined Optegra Eye Hospital Manchester in April 2013.
After graduating from the University of Bristol Medical School, he gained considerable experience at St. Paul's Eye Unit at the Royal Liverpool Hospital, and the Bristol Eye Hospital. He has since completed advanced specialist Glaucoma fellowships at the Bristol Eye Hospital, and the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital in Melbourne, Australia.
He publishes his research regularly in peer-reviewed medical journals, and lectures in the field of Ophthalmology. He is a reviewer for several ophthalmic journals, and maintains research interests in neuroprotection and translational research. He holds an Honorary research position at the Centre for Eye Research Australia (CERA), the University of Melbourne, and is an examiner for the College of Optometrists.

Mr John C Buchan is a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon at Optegra Eye Hospital Yorkshire, specialising in cataract, emergency eye care, ophthalmic public health and epidemiology
Mr John Buchan is a highly experienced cataract surgeon having performed nearly 10,000 cataract operations over the past 20 years. He was appointed as a Consultant Ophthalmologist in Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust in 2012, and works with Optegra to provide NHS cataract services in Optegra Yorkshire at Apperley Bridge.
Alongside his clinical commitment, he is the Clinical Lead of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists National Ophthalmology Database Cataract Audit, providing publicly visible quality assurance to the majority of UK institutions undertaking cataract surgery. Optegra participates in this National Cataract Audit, permitting us to see how our NHS cataract surgical results compare with those of other hospitals around the country, and how our surgeons perform compared to their peers. Mr Buchan leads this process nationally, and uses the data to help hospitals and clinicians improve and maintain the high standard of care they offer patients. He is also an assistant Professor in the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine where he is the Programme Director for the MSc in Public Health for Eye Care at the International Centre for Eye Health.
He worked for 4 years (2009-2012) with CBM in Sierra Leone developing eye care services there, and was an inaugural Vice President and founder member of the British Emergency Eye Care Society (BEECS) which was formed in 2013.

Mr Robert Morris is an experienced cataract and refractive surgeon. He qualified in Medicine with Distinction from St. Bartholomews Hospital at the University of London. He completed his post-graduate ophthalmic training at the renowned units in Oxford Eye Hospital, and Moorfields Eye Hospital and the USA.
In addition to his successful private practice, he has held the position of Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon and cataract lead at Southampton University Hospital NHS Trust. He was Medical Director of Optegra Eye Hospitals for 8 yrs.
He has performed over 35,000 lens and 7,500 laser procedures. Throughout his career he has been passionate about surgical training in cataract and refractive surgery. He obtained a Distinction on the University of Ulster Cataract and Refractive Surgery Diploma and is now a clinical tutor for this Diploma. He has published over 40 peer reviewed papers, written book chapters and lectures both Nationally and Internationally.

Mr Serafeim Antonakis is a Consultant Ophthalmologist (substantive post) at the University Hospital of Southampton NHS Trust. He specialises in the surgical and medical treatments of vitreous and retinal diseases: retinal detachment, diabetic eye disease, macular problems (macular hole, macular pucker/epiretinal membrane, age-related macular degeneration, including intravitreal anti-VEGF therapies), retinal vein occlusions together with modern cataract surgery.
Mr Antonakis comes from Greece where he studied Medicine at the University of Patras and underwent specialty training in Ophthalmology and awarded his Title of Medical Specialty (CCT) by the University of Athens in 2012. Along with his professional development as a doctor he completed his postgraduate studies and awarded a Master's Degree in Healthcare Management.
He had the privilege to work as senior Vitreoretinal Fellow in London's best-known teaching hospital, St Thomas' Hospital, under the guidance of world-leading VitreoRetinal consultants such as Mr.Laidlaw and Prof.Williamson, expanding his horizons as a VR surgeon in the surgical, clinical and research field.
He was honoured to be a member of one of the world's leading eye hospitals Moorfields Eye Hospital (City Road) as a Medical Retina Clinical Research Fellow and of the Institute of Ophthalmology of UCL as Senior Research Associate in Visual Neuroscience Lab.
Along with his duties as Vitreoretinal Consultant in University Hospital of Southampton NHS Trust he is also as a certified clinical and educational supervisor of Wessex Deanery and Royal College of Ophthalmology for VR fellows, Trainees in Ophthalmology and CESR trainees. He is also an active member of the University of Southampton as supervisor of Research Projects for Medical Students and a regular lecturer for their Ophthalmology teaching.
He has extensive experience with the innovative 3D Visualization System, from his St Thomas' work, that has changed his way of doing eye surgeries. He introduced the electronic diary for patients of the Vitreoretinal Theatre service in UHS NHS Trust which is now used for the whole Eye Theatre Services and continues to develop the electronic patient record referral system within the Eye Unit and through the peripheral sites of UHS NHS Trust, improving patient's safety and delivering care.
Mr Antonakis is a member of the UK Vitreoretinal Surgeons Society (BEAVRS), the European Society of Retina Specialists (EURETINA), the European Society of Cataract Specialists (ESCRS) and he preserves his links with the Greek Ophthalmological Societies as a member of Greek Association of Vitreo-Retinal Surgeons (GVRS) and Hellenic Ophthalmological Society (HOS).
