Barrie is a director at Navacent, an exceptional Engineer and business focused leader. His extensive experience across many sectors including a deep understanding of the Healthcare sector has been built up over many years across multiple sectors. Barrie's career spans 25 years in demanding roles working across the UK and internationally. His roles in the Royal Navy, Mitie, Carillion and Thames Water have seen him consistently deliver excellence and an improved business outcome for his clients.
Barrie led the Engineering engagement at Thames Water as Chief Engineer providing impetus, high performance and business acuity to the embryonic function. Since completing this challenge Barrie focused on transformational projects in healthcare. This included supporting critical care sites prepare for, and then perform through, this years' Covid 19 crisis.
His experience combined with a BEng in Marine Systems and an MBA from University of Bath mean that Barrie is superbly placed to support clients in their quest for excellence and efficiency.
The Navacent team is led by Euan Burns. Euan has extensive experience in the Built Environment and has held roles in industries spanning both the public and private sector; Royal Navy, Sky Television, Goldman Sachs and Carillion. Having left his role as Chief Engineer at Carillion Euan started Navacent. Navacent has supported numerous clients to unlock performance and delivery efficiency. Notably the last 2 years have been focused on Thames Water where the engagement required the restarting of Thames's Engineering function and overhauling their project selection and commissioning processes. Euan brings his passion for delivering excellence in engineering and unlocking the value of your building to Navacent.
Euan has built world class teams and brought outstanding performance to the buildings and clients he has worked with. For each engagement he works with senior industry experts to identify the right team. In doing so he brings focus to the holistic nature and impact of buildings on people and business.
A regular speaker and panelist in his capacity as Built Environment Engineering industry leader and advocate of innovative technology Euan frequently provokes discussion and leads these debates. He draws upon his highly varied experience to deploy innovative systems, processes and equipment for optimal effect, achieving greater value, as well as more reliable operating bases for your contracts, clients or their real estate.
Following Graduation from the University of Edinburgh, Euan spent 12 years as a Weapon Engineering Officer in the Royal Navy. This provided the foundation for achieving excellence in Engineering and honed his operational focus. At sea how, the ship performs matters just as much as how your building's performance affects your business!
During his time in the Armed Forces Euan was selected to study for his Master's Degree. His MSc in Guided Weapons augments his diverse engineering and leadership experience alongside the vastly varied environments and businesses he has operated in.
