BLUE MOUNTAIN WATER DISTRICT

The Blue Mountain Water District was established in 1977 to address water shortages in the wells of individual homes in the Blue Mountain Estates Subdivision. Blue Mountain residents began experiencing water shortages within the first 10 years of the subdivision's development. It was determined that the natural recharge to the wells couldn't keep up with use, despite the conservation efforts of the community. By 1976, as more homes were built, many wells began to go dry requiring residents to purchase water from outside sources. Recognizing the impact that could have to the community at large, residents joined forces to form the Blue Mountain Water District and fund the exploration, design and construction of a community-wide water system.
