Gretchen Pruett was born and raised in Flint, Michigan -a place that she continues to call home. She is an historian and craftswoman as well as an artist. She holds a B.A. in Philosophy and Anthropology and an M.A. in Education from the University of Michigan. She also earned an M.A. in History from the University of Delaware where she studied industrialization/deindustrialization, the environment and technology, and labor history. She is now turning her full focus to fine art as a preferred mode of representation and critical engagement.
