The Riverland Smart Agriculture Project (RSAP) is a federally funded project as part of the Murray Darling Basin Economic Development Program. The RSAP was delivered by the Loxton Waikerie Regional Council across the Loxton Waikerie, Renmark Paringa, and Berri Barmera council districts. The half-million-dollar project delivered a region wide internet of things (IoT) LoRaWAN network to support communities in water management and recovery. The free, publicly accessible network enables community deployment and use of environment sensors. These sensors collect localised data to support in effective resource utilisation and evidence-based decision making. The project requirements demanded a solution which allowed flexibility in the technology, and data use to generate valuable and actionable insights. This required an internally managed solution. Upskilling of staff in IoT and development of supporting materials were necessary if internal management was to succeed.ElectronicallyE delivered..
