The University Art Gallery serves as a source of educational and cultural enrichment for the campus and surrounding communities through exhibitions, publications, and public programs featuring modern and contemporary artists of regional, national, and international significance. Opened in 1978 as part of SSU's new Art Department complex, the Art Gallery has almost 2,500 square feet of exhibition space in two adjoining galleries. Throughout its 40+ year existence, the Art Gallery has organized and displayed numerous museum-quality exhibitions, including solo and group shows ranging in focus from experimental installations and multimedia works to more traditional styles and techniques.
