Dr Harsheet Sethi

Dr Harsheet Sethi is a General and Hepatobiliary surgeon. She is currently the Director of the Acute Surgical Unit and training supervisor at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane. She also sees patients through her private practice at Bridges Health and operates at Mater Private Hospital Brisbane. She holds full board specialist qualifications for general surgery in both the United Kingdom and Australia and is a member of the International Hepato-Pancreatico-Biliary Association (IHPBA), General Surgeons Australia and World Society of Emergency Surgery (WSES). Dr Sethi graduated Master of Surgery with a gold medal in 2003, before commencing her specialty training in Hepatobiliary at Kings College Hospital (London), Leeds University Hospital, and Southampton General Hospital. She obtained Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of England (FRCS) in 2012, emigrated to Australia in 2014, and was awarded Fellowship of the Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS) after a two-year Hepatobiliary fellowship at the Princess Alexandra Hospital. Holding a Masters in Surgical Education from Imperial College London, Dr Sethi is dedicated to teaching through her affiliations with the University of Queensland as a senior lecturer, senior instructor at courses run by Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, and the medical education unit at the Princess Alexandra Hospital. Dr Sethi believes that patients should be active participants in the decision making process and facilitates this by ensuring they have a clear understanding of the problem. She is focussed on building close doctor-patient relationships and advocating for their health.

Dr Marianne Mortimore

Dr Marianne Mortimore is a Consultant Gastroenterologist and Senior Lecturer with the University of Queensland who was Director of Gastroenterology at Mater Hospital in Brisbane from 2013 to 2021. In this time the unit developed as an integrated facility for clinical care, research, and teaching of medical students, junior doctors, fellowship trainees and the interdisciplinary team. Her clinical expertise includes general gastroenterology and endoscopy including bowel cancer screening and colonoscopy and management of inflammatory bowel diseases with patient access to clinical trials where appropriate. A diagnostic service with direct access to endoscopy is available for suitable patients at the request of general practitioners. Her clinical practice in the private sector has included 6 years working with Colorectal Diagnostics providing expertise in the investigation and management of pelvic floor disorders which may be contributing to patient symptoms. Dr Mortimore has worked in Private Practice at Bridges Health Services in South Brisbane since 2019 and sees patients in Brisbane, Cleveland and more remote locations by Telehealth. She aims to work with patients and their general practitioners to effect holistic and integrated management of gastrointestinal conditions with an inter-disciplinary approach as required. In working with patients across the spectrum of age including young adults she became interested in how clinicians can best collaborate with their patients for a patient centred approach that improves health outcomes.

Dr Paul Clark

Dr Paul Clark studied medicine at the University of Queensland, graduating with First Class Honours. Paul is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians, with advanced training undertaken in Brisbane at the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital and Princess Alexandra Hospital. He undertook post-fellowship training at Duke University Medical Centre in North Carolina, USA. Dr Clark consults in general gastroenterology and hepatology and is fully accredited in upper endoscopy and colonoscopy. Dr Clark has a sub-speciality interest in the diagnosis and management of liver disease, including viral hepatitis and autoimmune diseases, and liver fibrosis evaluation. Paul has a part-time appointment as a Staff Specialist at the Princess Alexandra Hospital and Mater Hospital Brisbane and is a Senior Lecturer with the University of Queensland School of Medicine. He has a part-time NHMRC Health Practitioner Research Fellowship at the Cancer Control Unit at Berghofer-QIMR Medical Research Institute. He has authored over 35 book chapters and peer-reviewed journal articles, and presented at national and international gastroenterology conferences.

Dr Teong Chuah

Dr Teong Chuah is an upper gastrointestinal (GI) and general surgeon. He consults at the Mater Medical Centre and operates at the Mater Private Hospital Brisbane. Dr Chuah graduated from the University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Medical Science and MBBS in 1998. To further his research interests especially in novel therapies for cancer, he completed his PhD in Surgery at the University of Queensland and Queensland Institute of Medical Research. His research work was supported by numerous scholarships including those from the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC). Dr Chuah was conferred numerous awards for his research work including the Neville Davis Prize from the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, Sir Ian McFarlane Research Medal from the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital, and Queensland Premier's Award for Health and Medical Research. He has also spoken at many state, national and international conferences. Dr Chuah commenced his general surgical training in 2010 being ranked number one in the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons national application ranking and obtained his fellowship (FRACS) in 2015. He worked as a fellow in general surgery at the Queen Elizabeth II Hospital, Brisbane, to consolidate his general surgical skills. To subspecialise and further his interest in oesophago-gastric cancer and reflux disease, Dr Chuah was accepted into the Australian and New Zealand Gastro-Oesophageal Surgery Association (ANZGOSA) fellowship training program. He completed two years of upper GI fellowship training at the Western Hospital, Melbourne and Princess Alexandra Hospital, Brisbane. He is a member of ANZGOSA and General Surgeons Australia (GSA), and is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Medicine at the University of Queensland. Dr Chuah is interested in all aspects of upper GI and general surgery, and is a GESA-accredited upper GI endoscopist and colonoscopist. He strongly believes in patient-centred care and that good surgical outcome whilst protecting the patient's welfare is paramount.

Khuong Nguyen

Dr Nguyen is a consultant general surgeon with a special interest in colorectal and laparoscopic surgery. He graduated from the University of New South Wales in 2006 with a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery and Bachelor of Medical Science. He completed his advanced General Surgical training and became a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of Surgeons (FRACS) in 2017. Dr Nguyen has since undertaken two further years of specialist training including areas such as general, colorectal and minimally invasive surgery at the QEII Hospital and Mater Hospital Brisbane. He currently operates consults at the Mater Medical Centre and operates at the Mater Private Hospital Brisbane. He also has public appointments in both the QEII Hospital and Mater Hospital Brisbane. Dr. Nguyen is actively involved in teaching medical students at both the University of Queensland and the Griffith University. He is the Surgical lead facilitator for Griffith University at the QEII Hospital.
