Gary is one of the most experienced practitioners in the German-speaking legal search & selection market. With over 25 years' experience of managing and delivering business-critical and complex assignments, Gary relocated to Germany with his family from Australia in 2000 and is active across Germany, Austria and Switzerland. His market insight, sector knowledge and extensive experience are all highly-valued assets by our clients.
Gary is a keen golfer and skier who enjoys the mountains both in summer and winter. He has a weakness for good red wine.

Melanie Duce-Carreira first gained early experience of international executive search as a student trainee during her studies in History of Art and Business Administration and has remained true to the recruitment sector ever since. After receiving her Masters, Melanie moved into legal recruitment in 2012 and, ever since, has been advising national and international commercial law firms on complex search assignments and strategic personnel decisions. Legalutions welcomed her to the team in spring 2022.
In her free time, Melanie thoroughly enjoys hiking, has a penchant for long-distance travel and a special passion for opera.

Petrus started his consultancy career with a management consultancy engaged by Deutsche Bahn (German National Rail) after passing his bar exams. In 1999 he moved into the legal search and selection market, joining forces with Gary Mackney early in 2001. His practice comprises senior lawyer assignments for law firms and corporations and, increasingly, business professionals for law firms.
Petrus can often be found walking the family dog, teaching his young family about forestry or simply enjoying the wines of the Rheingau region. He is also a keen sailor.
