Paul works with a wide range of clients, including executives, retirees, professionals such as lawyers, doctors, and dentists, and other business owners. He also works closely with many financial advisors and their clients to provide financial, tax and estate planning on an advice-only basis. Paul has a particular specialty in providing very comprehensive financial and retirement planning calculations and advice, as well as in providing sophisticated advice to owner/managers with respect to corporate structuring, compensation strategies, sale and succession planning, estate freezes, and estate planning. Since entering the financial world in 1994, Paul has gained experience in a number of different areas. He began his tax career at one of the "big four" accounting firms, where he was involved in public accounting, tax planning and compliance. Paul then gained experience in the fee-only financial planning world with a small independent firm where he provided advice to his own clients, as well as to the other consultants of the firm on various tax planning matters. He also worked in wealth management at one of Canada's largest independent wealth management firms as Regional Vice President, Wealth Planning, followed by founding and being Managing Director of an advice-only financial planning firm, a predecessor to Astute Strategies Inc., where he provided complex financial, tax and estate planning solutions and expertise to and through financial advisors. In addition, Paul founded and was senior tax partner of an accounting practice, now known as Anklesaria CPA Professional Corporation, before selling his interest to focus on Astute Strategies Inc. exclusively. Paul holds a Bachelor of Accounting Science degree and has also earned the Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, CGA), Certified Financial Planner (CFP) and Trust and Estate Practitioner (TEP) designations, and also is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA), a U.K. based professional body. In addition, Paul has completed numerous tax specialty courses offered by the Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada, including the In-Depth Tax Course, Income Tax Practice, and the Advanced Owner-Manager Tax Planning Course. He has delivered many seminars on financial, tax and estate planning topics and has authored and been interviewed for articles on a wide variety of topics for publications including Globe & Mail, The Bottom Line, Investment Executive, Advisor.ca and the Ontario Dentist Journal.
