MA LAB

Our research laboratory is located in the mission bay campus of University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) School of Medicine. We are part of the vibrant research communities in the Cardiovascular Research Institute, Innovative Genomics Institute (Berkeley), Bakar Aging Research Institute and Department of Physiology at UCSF. We use genetically tractable nematodes including C. elegans and unconventional model systems (e.g. cells from extreme hibernator Arctic ground squirrels) to study how genes and molecules make cells and organisms stress resilient in physiological homeostasis and aging, and how animals adapt to environmental conditions including changes in temperature and oxygen levels.
