Alexander Schafigh

Dr. Schafigh received his DDS from the University of Giessen in 1999. Since February, 2000 he has been with the Department of Maxillofacial Surgery, Chairman Prof. Dr. Dr. H.P. Howaldt. This is the former Department of Oral Surgery and Dental Polyclinic; Chairman Prof. Dr. H. Kirschner. Dr. Schafigh's special interest is dental traumatology. On June 22, 2001 he addressed the World Congress on Sports Dentistry and Dental Traumatology in Boston, Massachusetts. His lecture outlined his important work on ankylosis and root resorption in persistant primary teeth. Dr. Schafigh discussed the use of persitant primary teeth for auto-transplantation to replace lost permanent incisors. He is married and the proud father of two lovely children.

Amornpong Vachiramon D.

Dr. Vachiramon received his dental degree and Graduate Diploma of Clinical Sciences in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery from Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, Thailand. He pursued surgical training and MSc in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Eastman Dental Institute, University College London. He also received Certificate Training in Maxillofacial Prosthetics from Eastman Dental Institute, University College London. Dr. Vachiramon is a fellow and Diplomate of International Congress of Oral Implantologists and holds a Mastership of prosthodontic section of International Congress of Oral Implantologists. In addition, he is a fellow of International Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, corresponding fellow of American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery and affiliate fellow of American Academy of Maxillofacial Prosthetics. He is also an active member of Academy of Osseointegration, American Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Association, European Academy of Cosmetic Surgery, International Congress of Maxillofacial Prosthetics, American Association of Anaplastologists, Academy of Laser Dentistry, Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine, American Academy of Sleep Medicine, British Sleep Society, Canadian Society of Sleep Medicine and Academy of Sport Dentistry. Dr. Vachiramon lectures regularly on many different topics, with particular interest on craniofacial and dental implantology, dental sleep medicine and maxillofacial prosthetics. Furthermore, Dr. Vachiramon participated in numerous research projects which have been presented as oral, posters and table clinics and has had many articles published. Currently, he is a consultant to Plastic and Craniomaxillofacial Division, Police General Hospital in Bangkok, Thailand. He also has his private practice in Thailand.

Carlos R Ponce G.

Dr. Carlos Ponce graduated from the Universidad de San Carlos de Guatemala School of Dentistry in 1977. He received his postgrauate training in oral pathology, oral medicine and maxillofacial surgery from the same institution in 1987. Dr. Ponce is a member of Colegio Estomatol�gico de Guatemala, Asociaci�n de Cirug�a Oral y Maxilofacial de Guatemala, International College for Oral and Maxilofacial Surgery and the Academy for Sports Dentistry. He serves on the Comit� Ol�mpico Guatemalteco on both the doping control team and as Secretary of the Medical Commission. He is on the medical staff of Hospital Bella Aurora and Hospital Ciudad Vieja in Guatemala. Carlos Ponce is a member of the Sports Medical Commission of the VII Juegos Deportivos Centroamericanos Guatemala 2001 and Director of its Sports Dental Commission. Dr. Ponce is a speaker on dental implants and sports dentistry. His speaking engagements have included the Congress on Sports Medicine, Havana, Cuba, Congress of Sports Medicine, Guatemala and the Central American Congress of Sports Medicine, San Pedro Sula, Honduras.

Chukwudi Ochi Onyeaso

Chukwudi Ochi Onyeaso was born in Abia State,Nigeria. . He received his BDS from the School of Dentistry, College of Medicine, University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Nigeria in January, 1990. Dr. Onyeaso did a Fellowship in Dental Surgery of the West African College of Surgeons (FWACS) and completed it in October, 1999. He serves as a Lecturer /Consultant Orthodontist, School of Dentistry, College of Medicine, University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Nigeria. Responsibilities include the teaching of orthodontics and tutorials to predoctoral dental students and residents, consultations for referred orthodontic cases requiring specialty management. He participates in teaching of revision courses for postgraduate dental surgeons preparing for the fellowship of the West African College of Surgeons in dental surgery since December of 2000. Dr Onyeaso received recognition as the Best Behaved student, Federal School of Arts and Science, Aba, Abia State, Nigeria in 1982; Best Biology student at Advanced Level, Federal School of arts and Sciences in 1982 and recently was honoured with the award of the lecturer of the year (2001 - 2002) in the Faculty of Dentistry, College of Medicine of University of Ibadan by the Unibadan Association of Dental students, University of Ibadan, Nigeria. Dr. Onyeaso is a member of the Nigeria Dental Association, Nigeria Medical Association, Medical and Dental Consultants Association of Nigeria, International Association Dental Research. He is a Fellow of the West African College of Surgeons. Dr. Onyeaso holds an Honorary Appointment to the RESEARCH BOARD OF ADVISORS of American Biographical Institute (since 2003). He has been appointed a resource person in orthodontics for the Faculty of Dentistry of the West African College of Surgeons (2003). Dr.Onyeaso has many local and international publications to his credit. Among other research interests in orthodontics, Dr. Onyeaso has interest in sports Dentistry (promoting the use of mouthguards in sports especially among children and young adults). He reviews manuscripts for local and international journals and has presented papers at local and international conferences. He is happily married to Olutoyin with children.

Danny Friedlander

Dr. Friedlander earned his DDS degree in 1984 from the Colegio Odontologico Colombiano in Bogota, Colombia. He then served as an instructor in the Department of Dental Occlusion at the University of Tel Aviv School of Dentistry, Tel Aviv, Israel. Subsequently, Dr. Friedlander pursued his certificate in Prosthodontics at the University of Indiana in Indianapolis, Indiana. In 1988 he was awarded his MSD (Master of Science in Dentistry) from the very same institution. From 1989 until 1991 he was a Clinical Instructor and Guest Lecturer at the Department of Prosthodontics, Hebrew University School of Dentistry, Hadassa, Jerusalem, Israel. Since 1991 he has been the Chief Dentist and manager of the Dental Clinic at the Kibutz Givat Brenner, Israel. Dr. Friedlander is the Founder and Prosthodontist of the Rehovot Dental Clinic, Rehovot, Israel. As a prosthodontist he has treated many patients who have suffered dental trauma during the practice of sports, both amateur and professional. In 2001 Dr. Friedlander has attended both the First International Symposium on Dentistry & Sport in Cologne, Germany and the First World Congress on Sports Dentistry and Dental Traumatology sponsored by both the Academy for Sports Dentistry and the International Association of Dental Traumatology in Boston, Mass., U.S.A. His goal is to try to promote sports dentistry amongst dentists and patients in Israel. Dr. Friedlander is a member of the Israeli Dental Association, Israeli Academy of Prosthodontics, American Academy for Sports Dentistry.

Danny Low

Dr. Low graduated with an MScDent and BDS from the University of Sydney. He is also a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons (FRACDS). He holds an Assistant Professorship at the University of Hong Kong. In addition, his contributions to dentistry are recognized internationally through invitations to Fellowships in two international dental academies; the Pierre Fauchard Academy, FPFA and the Academy of Dentistry International, FADI. Additionally, he has particular interest and considerable experience in Endodontics, Restorative Dentistry and Sports Dentistry. Dr. Low is engaged in clinical practice limited to Endodontics. He has several peer reviewed publications in international journals and maintains a committment to research in Endodontics and Dental Materials. David A. Garber

Dr. David Garber has a dual appointment at the Medical College of Georgia School of Dentistry, Augusta, Georgia as Clinical Professor in the Department of Periodontics, as well as Clinical Professor in the Department of Oral Rehabilitation. He also serves on the faculties at Louisiana State University, New Orleans, Louisiana as Clinical Professor in the Department of Prosthodontics and at The University of Texas, San Antonio, Texas as Adjunct Professor in the Department of Restorative Dentistry. Dr. Garber graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with postdoctoral training in both periodontics and fixed prosthodontics (periodontal prosthetics). Prior to his coming to Atlanta, he was on the university faculty as Director of Crown and Bridge and Director of the Group Clinical Practice. He lectures extensively on multidisciplinary approaches to optimizing esthetics. The programs integrate restorative dentistry and periodontic implants in developing total dental facial harmony and he has presented throughout America, Europe, and the Orient. He has practiced in Great Britain, South Africa, and the U.S.A. Dr. Garber is an active member of numerous dental societies, including the American Academy of Fixed Prosthodontics, the American Academy of Periodontology, the American Prosthodontic Society, and is a Board Member of the American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry. He has also been named "Fellow of the College" of the International College of Dentists, USA Section. Dr. Garber writes extensively, publishing enumerable articles and has contributed to many dental texts. He has co-authored texts on esthetic dentistry, including Bleaching Teeth, Porcelain Laminate Veneers, Porcelain and Composite Inlays and Onlays, and Complete Dental Bleaching. Dr. Garber is completing a text himself on integrated therapy in advanced esthetics and "the esthetic implant".

Dennis Flanagan

Dr Flanagan received his DDS degree from Georgetown University. He excelled in research concerning radio-calcium absorption. He did an oral cancer internship at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Medical Center in New York, New York. Dr Flanagan has a Masters in the Academy of General Dentistry, Diplomate status in the American Board of oral Implantology and Implant Dentistry, International College of Oral Implantologists and the American Board of Forensic Dentistry. He is Board Eligilble for the American Board of General Dentistry and a member of the ADA, AGD, APS, Academy of Osseointegration and ICOI. Donald L. Gary

Dr. Donald Gary has over 25 years experience in cosmetic and restorative dentistry. He is a 1973 graduate of the University of Tennessee College of Dentistry and received his fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry in 1985. Dr. Gary is a member of the Academy for Sports Dentistry. The Memphis Dental Society has selected Dr. Gary twice as the Memphis Dentist of the Year. Last year he was chosen "Tennessee Dentist of the Year" by the Academy of General Dentistry. For nearly two decades, Dr. Gary has lectured to thousands of dentists and their staffs throughout the country on subjects such as practice management, dental insurance, and the latest advancements and new procedures in dental management.

Dr Krishnan A Subramanian

Dr Krishnan A Subramanian completed his BDS in 1991 from College of Dental Surgery from MAHE, Mangalore. A former lecturer in Endodontics and Restorative Dentistry in CODS, MAHE is in private practice since 1995. Dr. Krishnan has brought Sports Dentistry into India. He is a member of International Academy of Sports Dentistry and country representative in International Association for Dentistry and Sport. He has taken a lot of effort and formed Indian Society of Sports Dentistry. Recently he presented a paper on Sports Dentistry and Dental / facial injuries in Cricket and their prevention at the 2nd World Congress on Science and Medicine in Cricket at Cape Town, S.Africa. He has made mark in India for Sports Dentistry. Dr. Subramanian also is the National co-ordinator, Indian Academy of Aesthetic and Cosmetic Dentistry and also has earned a Certificate in Dental Sleep Medicine, Erkodent, Germany.

Dr. Andreas Filippi

After earning his dental degree he received an appointment as Assistant Clinical Professor of Oral Surgery from 1990 until 1998. From 1999 until the early part of 2001 Dr. Filippi served as Associate Professor Clinic of Oral Surgery and Stomatology at the University of Berne, Switzerland. He has been Associate Clinical Professor of Oral Surgery at the University of Basel ever since. Dr. Filippi is well published. He has written more than 80 national and international articles. Many of them dealing with dental traumatology. In June, 2001 Dr. Filippi presented an important paper at the World Congress on Sports Dentistry and Dental Traumatology sponsored by the International Association of Dental Traumatology and the Academy for Sports Dentistry. Along with colleagues from the School of Dental Medicine, University of Berne, Switzerland he was able to show the usefulness of a newly developed and patented titanium trauma splint (TTS).

Dr. Burak Demiralp

Dr. Burak Demiralp, obtained his PhD degree from Health Science Institute of Hacettepe University. He was awarded by The Scientific and Technical Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK) as a science fellow and studied at the Center for Craniofacial Regeneration at the University of Michigan, U.S.A between 1999 and 2001. His research was focused on hormonal controls of bone remodeling. During this period he also taught periodontics at the undergraduate clinics of the University of Michigan. He got the third place at the Warner Lambert Hatton Award at the 30 th Annual Meeting of the AADR in Chicago, U.S.A in 2001. He was awarded by the American Association of Dental Research to participate in IADR/ Hatton Award competition in Chiba, Japan in 2001with AADR Travel Award. He also got ASBMR Young Investigator Award, which was awarded by the American Society for Bone and Mineral Research in Phoenix, Arizona, U.S.A in 2001. Recently he is working as a faculty member at Hacettepe University, Faculty of Dentistry, Department of Periodontology. He is the undergraduate clinical director for periodontology for D4s. He also has Advanced Implant Training Certificate from Misch Implant Institute. He is an international archery judge. He had served in 2 world championships, in Havana, Cuba in 1999, and Nimes, France in 2003.

Dr. David R. Patton

Dr. David R. Patton graduated from the Ohio State University College of Dentistry in 1991. He then completed advanced training (GPR) at the Veteran's Administration Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio. Since then Dr. Patton has maintained his private practice. He provides Preventive, Restorative and Cosmetic Dentistry as well as Sports Dentistry in the Cleveland suburb of Solon, Ohio. Currently, Dr. Patton is the Team Dentist for the Solon High School Comets. He is on staff at Saint Vincent Medical Center in Cleveland and a faculty member of Saint Luke's Medical Center (GPR). Additionally, Dr. Patton provides his expertise in dental and oro-facial trauma as the Dentist-on-call for the Solon Medical Campus of Saint Vincent's Medical Center. Dr. Patton is an active member of: the Academy for Sports Dentistry, International Association of Dental Traumatology, Academy of General Dentistry, American Dental Association, Ohio Dental Association and the Cleveland Academy of Dental Studies. He also is a Project Protect task force member (a community service project to make custom-fitted mouthguards for student athletes). Dr. Patton keeps abreast of new technology in dentistry as well as the latest advances in Sports Dentistry by participating in multiple continuing education programs. This includes the annual Academy for Sports Dentistry's meetings. Dr. Patton enjoys traveling, skiing, sailing and gardening. Most of all he enjoys his time at home with his family (Joyce, Ian and Madison pictured above).

Dr. Douglas Lambert

Douglas Lambert, DDS, FACD, is in private practice in Edina, Minnesota with an emphasis on aesthetic, sports, and conprehensive dentistry. He lectures frequestly world-wide and presented at the 199 IASD Annual Symposium in Toronto, Canada and the 2002 IASD Annual Symposium in San Antonio, Texas. He is the former team dentist for the Minnesota North Stars (NHL). He has received numerous honors and awards, the most recent being the Top Cosmetic Dentist in the Minneapolis / St Paul Magazine. He is a fellow of the American College of Dentists and the Pierre Fauchard Academy. Dr Lambert does clinical research for various dental manufacturers and is currently a trustee for the Minneapolis District Dental Society. He is published in many dental publications focusing mostly on aesthetic dentistry. Dr Lambert also serves as the team dentist for the Minnesota Lynx Professional Basketball team.

Dr. Mark Laska

Dr Laska was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, then moved to Los Angeles as a young child. He has lived in the Los Feliz/Silverlake community of Los Angeles ever since. Dr. Laska attended UCLA for undergraduate studies and graduated from USC Dental School in 1970. He has been in private practice in Los Angeles since that time. Dr. Laska is married with three children. During the 1984 Los Angeles Olympic Games, Dr. Laska was selected as a dentist for the athletes and the officials. Also, Dr. Laska is currently the dentist for the Los Angeles Clippers professional basketball team. He keeps abreast of new techniques through participation in many continuing education seminars. He is active in the American Dental Association, the California Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry and the Academy For Sports Dentistry.

Dr. Osvaldo Mor

Dr. Mor�guez graduated with high honors from the University of Chile Dental School in 2001. Since March, 2002 he has been part of the Removable Prosthodontic Staff at the University of Chile Dental School. Dr. Mor�guez devotes attention to the study of Oclussion and Temporomandibular Joint Disorders. He is a member of the International Academy for Sports Dentistry. In 2001 he began working with soccer players. In 2003 the doctor participated in an Implant and Rehabilitation course using the ITI implant dentistry system. Also, in 2003 the doctor completed a Residency Program at the Center for Sports Health and Exercise Sciences at the Olympic Training Center of Puerto Rico. Dr. Mor�guez has been an avid sportsman all his life, He especially enjoys playing soccer. He is working for the development of sports dentistry as a recognized specialty in Chile and believes that Team Dentists can help athletes maintain good health and enhance their performance.

Dr. Patricia C. de Luna

Dr. De Luna was born in S�o Paulo, Brazil, then moved to Mexico City as a young child. She then relocated to Crystal Lake, Illinois and later to Amsterdam, Holland. She returned to S�o Paulo in 1987, where she finished her studies and has since set up her private dental practice which provides services to the International community of S�o Paulo in the area of General Dentistry for adults and children with a special interests in Prevention and in Sports Dentistry. She is a member of the Academy for Sports Dentistry (U.S.A.), Associa��o Brasileira de Odontologia Desportiva (ABRODESP - Brazil), Associa��o Paulista de Cirurgi�es Dentistas (APCD - Brazil), Conselho Regional de Odontologia (CRO-SP Brazil) and Conselho Federal de Odontologia (CFO - Brazil) and is active in many other social organizations in S�o Paulo. Dr. De Luna attends seminars and congresses throughout the year to keep up to date with advances and new techniques in Dentistry with special attention to the areas of Prevention, Pediatrics, Aesthetics and Sports Dentistry and promotes workshops and courses geared specifically towards parents, children and school staffs in Preventive Care for Children and Adolescents and Sports Dentistry.

Dr. Reagan Moore

Dr. Reagan Moore is a full time faculty member in periodontics at the University of Louisville School of Dentistry. He received his DDS at Ohio State U. in 1968. Dr. Moore served in the Europe while with the United States Army. He practiced general dentistry in Wilmington Ohio from 1968 until 1983; Dr Moore received his training in periodontics and a Peridontics training and Masters in Dentistry from the University of Kentucky in 1985. Dr Moore has researched and published in the area of periodontal plastic surgery, bone grafting materials and periodontal diseases in tobacco users. Most recently he has established a prototype for a student run organizations in sports dentistry. He is married to Dr. Margaret Hill who is a full time staff member of the Department of Periodontics at the University of Louisville, School of Dentistry.

Dr. Riad Bacho

Dr. Bacho was born in Beirut, Lebanon in 1958. He graduated from St. Joseph University (Beirut) in 1982. In 1985, Dr Bacho earned a certificate in Pediatric Dentistry and Prevention from the University of Paris. In 1994, he successfully completed a Doctorate of Sciences in Dentistry (D.S.O) from the University of Paris. Dr. Bacho has been a Fellow of the International College of Dentists (F.I.C.D) since 1999 and he is a former President of the Lebanese Society of Pediatric Dentistry. Dr. Bacho is also a member of the French Society of Pediatric Dentistry and the International Association of Pediatric Dentistry. Currently, Dr. Bacho is an Associate Professor at the School of Dentistry, Lebanese University. Dr Bacho served as the Director of the post-graduate program in Pediatric and Community Dentistry from 1997 to 2003. Since 1986 he has maintained a private practice limited to Pediatric Dentistry in Beirut. Dr. Bacho has a strong interest in dental traumatology. He has given several international and local lectures on this topic focusing on the prevention of traumatic injuries to the teeth. Dr Bacho participated in the World Congress on Sports Dentistry and Dental Traumatology.held in Boston in 2001.

Dr. Robert Gassner

Dr. Robert Gassner, Associate Professor at the Departments of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, University of Innsbruck, Austria and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania received his medical and dental training at the University of Innsbruck, Austria. Joining the Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, University of Innsbruck, Austria in 1991 one of his research interests was craniomaxillofacial trauma. Therefore he established a database on dentofacial trauma. To date more than 10 000 cases reflect the busy everyday clinical workload and experience of the department. He is actively involved in dentofacial trauma research, with several scientific publications related to craniomaxillofacial and dental trauma and launched an interdisciplinary trauma research study group. He has given more than 60 scientific oral presentations at numerous meetings including the World congress of the International Association of Dental Traumatology and the Academy for Sports Dentistry in Boston, June 2001. Gloria J. Roberts

Gloria Roberts has graduated from dental school twice - first as a dental hygienist and then, 12 years later, as a dentist. She and her husband, Jeff, live with their two sons in Overland Park, Kansas. In co-operation with Prof. Yelverton Tegner, Dr. Biasca has also just developed an International Sports Injury System "ISIS�, (FOR A DESCRIPTION OF ISIS CLICK HERE) which is an expanded computerized internet-based data version of the IRS. The ISIS gives the possibility to improve the epidemiological analysis of most sports related injuries, to make available an internationally compatible system for the continuous monitoring of risk factors, to be able to evaluate the different training methods, to evaluate the protective effects of different kinds of equipment and to evaluate the effects of changes in rules for many sports worldwide. This ISIS is an internet-based database system that makes possible to early detect any changes in injury pattern through the years. It is a valid and reliable way of documenting injuries and if used worldwide it can give very important information concerning injuries, epidemiology and treatment.Dr. Biasca has also done a lot of research for the prevention of sequelae after minor Traumatic Brain Injury mTBI. In collaboration with Prof. Tegner, Dr. Reto Agosti and Dr. Hugo Battaglia he has developed (1998) Emergency Procedures following 'minimal Traumatic Brain Injury' mTBI in ice hockey and other contact sports to prevent Second Impact Syndrome (SIS). After 2 years as an associate in a group practice he started his own group practice of 23 dentists. Apart from his involvement with volunteer organizations and professional dental societies both locally and internationally, he also lectures in dental practice management, clinical dentistry with emphasis in craniomandibular disorders, prosthodontics and dental aesthetics. He is also a practice management consultant in the health care industry. Dr Tay was a Founder and Past President of the Asian Academy of Aesthetic Dentistry, Asian Academy of Craniomandibular Disorders and Asian Academy of Prosthodontics. He is currently the President-Elect of the International Federation of Esthetic Dentistry. Stephen J. Moss

Professor Stephen J. Moss, D.D.S., M.S. is a past president of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. As an NIDR research fellow, following graduation from NYU College of Dentistry, he obtained a Master of Science degree at NYU Graduate School of Arts and Science. His major area of study is preventive dentistry. As Chairman and Professor of the Department of Pediatric Dentistry, he has published books, monographs, and over 200 pediatric and orthodontic scientific papers, many dealing with public health and infant dental education. In recognition of his abilities at the New York University College of Dentistry, Dr. Moss was appointed Division Head of Growth and Developmental Sciences. In that position, he was given the responsibility of coordinating prevention, pediatric and orthodontic education. Dr. Moss represents the Federation Dentaire Internationale (FDI) as its Delegate to the United Nations. Ulf Glendor

Dr. Glendor graduated from the Karolinska Institute, School of Dentistry in Stockholm, Sweden in 1973. He had been working as a dentist in the Public Dental Health Service in Sweden when he began his research in dental traumatology in 1991. In 2000 he presented a thesis with the entitled "On Dental Trauma in Children and Adolescents - Incidence, Risk, Treatment, Time and Costs" Its special focus was on the economic consequences of dental trauma. He has been a member of the International Association of Dental Traumatology (IADT) since 1992. Dr. Glendor's speaking engagements have included the 5 th World Congress, La Jolla, California (1994) and the World Congress on Sports Dentistry and Dental Traumatology (2001). Presently Dr. Glendor is focusing his research on the frequency of dental trauma in sports and attitudes regarding the use of prevention devices in ice hockey.

Wynn Matsumura

Dr. Matsumura has served at the local, state, and national levels of Dentistry. He served on the Board of Directors for his San Francisco Dental Society; California State Council on Dental Health and Education; State Delegate to the California Dental Association (CDA); President for the California Society of Dentistry for Children in 1984; and President for the Northern California Academy of General Dentistry (AGD) in 1993. He was appointed by the Governor to serve as an "Expert Examiner" for the California State Board of Dentistry. Dr. Matsumura was selected as the California statewide Chairperson for National Dental Health Month for two consecutive years. He recently completed over 5 years of service as the Chairperson for the Continuing Education Committee for the AGD. His voracious appetite for knowledge and his quest for ongoing self-improvement has meant completion of well over 9,000 hours of certified postgraduate study. Yasser A. Tawfik

Dr. Tawfik was born in Cairo, Egypt. He graduated from the Cairo University in 1985. Dr. Tawfik has been a member of the Academy for Sports Dentistry since 1999. He is one of two dentists who introduced Sports Dentistry as part of Sports Medicine in Egypt at 1986. This was while was practicing at the Sports Medicine Hospital, Gezira, Cairo. Dr Tawfik also established, and practiced for about 10 Years as a part-timer, in the dental clinic of the Japan Budo Center at the Zohour Club. He began by providing services to athletes practicing Japanese Sports. This was later expanded to all sports practiced at Zohour Club. Presently, he is Head of the Dental Department, Sports Medicine, Specialized Hospital, Nasr City, Cairo where he is engaged in equipping and organizing the Dental Department. Dr. Yasser Tawfik has spent many hours conducting dental services and doping control in many national and international games. He has a strong interest in continuing education, lecturing, teaching, and promoting sports dentistry to dentists, physicians, coaches and athletes. Dr. Tawfik has served as both Chairman and Speaker in sports dentistry at International Conferences held in Egypt. In November 2000, Dr. Tawfik presented a thesis on mouthguards, as partial fulfillment of his Masters Degree in Prosthodontics at the Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine, Cairo University. Yuri Yonehata
