Harrison Fisher

Harrison Fisher has seen all sides of the business in his forty seven years of professional music with 30 years working experience as a singer, composer, conductor, and pianist in New York City. He then continued his career locally: as a singer-actor, conductor, orchestrator and composer. The first eight years of his career were spent in NYC as a broadway and club singer, as well as an oratorio soloist. One year he was a member of the Robert Shaw Chorale. Mr. Fisher has composed scores for SESAME STREET and other television productions, as well as numerous musical plays for young people, including the award-winning score for JIM THORPE, ALL-AMERICAN, which was premiered at the Kennedy Center. He has recorded original scores for Mobil, Heublein, and Proctor-Silex and many television and radio commercials, as well as several videos. Additionally, he has written scores for three cartoons currently playing in commercial movie houses. As a conductor, he has worked with F. Murray Abraham, Betty Buckley, David Carradine, Alfred Drake, Arlene Frances, Chita Rivera, and Alexis Smith (to name a few). He was Music Director-Orchestrator for the European tour of JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR, the US tour of THE KING AND I with Yul Brynner, and the national tour of THE FANTASTICS. He has orchestrated shows for Albert Hague, Mary Rodgers, Joe Raposo, Alfred Drake and many others. His special arrangements and material have been used on the Johnny Carson, Merv Griffin and Mike Douglas shows. Since moving his synthesizer studio to the Triangle area, he has frequently been the musical director for Raleigh Little Theatre, Raleigh Ensemble Players, Triangle Dinner Theatre, Burning Coal Theatre, and Theatre In The Park, and orchestrated special material for The Raleigh Symphony. He is currently busy as a private instructor of classical and jazz piano, voice building and coaching, and music theory.
