Sound Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (SPI) is developing therapeutics that will enable doctors and patients to prevent and treat various forms of hearing loss. Sensorineural hearing loss is the third largest disease in the industrialized world and affects 50 million Americans. Estimates from the NIH and the CDC place the total annual costs of hearing loss at approximately $50 billion per year in the U.S. alone... In the US, 50 million are affected with hearing loss or tinnitus. Unfortunately, there are no FDA approved drugs that treat a single disease or disorder of the inner ear. We are developing the first therapeutics that will prevent and treat sensorineural hearing loss and tinnitus.
