Mike is on the committee of the British Fly Casting Club (BFCC) and has held various club distance records, he is very much 'hands on' at all the BFCC events throughout the UK and can always be found helping with tuition, tips and advice. Mike's resurgent interest in fly casting was trying to blast a five weight fly line to the horizon! He still tries to do it, but since he decided to become an instructor he has developed a more rounded appreciation of all types of single-handed fly casting. It would be his pleasure to help you take your first steps on the fly casting ladder, or help you climb even higher by adding a few feet to your existing cast.

His adventures around the world, fly fishing for Bluefish off a Florida Beach, chasing Tuna off Australia, hunting back country rainbows in New Zealand and exploring countless Scottish river banks, has given him a wide knowledge base and the opportunity to put Barrio fly lines to the test in a great variety of destinations. Sandy is not a certified instructor, but he is a proficient caster and always has time to help others get to grips with techniques and where to use those "Casts that catch fish". He is closely associated with Carl McNeil at Swift Flyfishing in New Zealand and specialises in building the Epic range of Fastglass and Carbon fly rods. His rods are all custom built to order so he can ensure the customer gets the best possible product, built the way they have always dreamed of. Sandy is also passionate about Cane, so as you can imagine, rod building takes up much of his time during the long winter months!
