In response to the civil war in Somalia and the Somali-American community's desire to help their love ones back home, Dahabshil Inc. was established. Due to the sustained civil war, famine and the lack of the governmental financial institutions, Dahabshil, Inc. remained as the only financial institution trusted by many Somalis.
