BRIDGEMILL ANIMAL HOSPITAL - Key Persons

Dr. Phillip Thompson

Dr. Phillip Thompson graduated from the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine in 2008, after attending the University of Kentucky for undergrad (go CATS!). He has a special interest in veterinary dentistry and has completed advanced animal dental training to enhance his skill. Dr. Thompson and his (wonderful) wife Kathryn operate a 30-acre farm, where they have four cats, seven dogs (four inside puppers and three livestock guardian/working dogs). They raise goats, sheep, rabbits, chickens and ducks... and two boys: Kevin and Samuel. If anyone wants to buy eggs, please ask. Dr. Thompson enjoys gardening, hunting, fishing and reading and is a Star Wars nerd.

Dr. Shelby Hixon

Dr. Shelby Hixon received her doctor of veterinary medicine degree from Auburn University in 2016 after attending the University of Alabama for her Bachelors of Science in Biology. After vet school, she attended Chi University, where she became a Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist so that she could integrate Eastern medicine into her Western veterinary medical practice and improve her scope of treatment for her patients. In addition to her Eastern Medicine, Dr. Hixon has a passion for and has completed ancillary training in both dentistry and ultrasonography. Dr. Hixon grew up down the street in Towne Lake and is happy to come back home to join us at BridgeMill Animal Hospital. She lives in Canton with her partner, Jesse, their son, Raylan, and their 4 dogs: Ayla, Sasha, Madeleine, and Meatball. Their other furry (and feathery) family include 2 cats, a horse, 2 goats, and chickens. She enjoys spending time with family and competing in athletic events, though she is a few years retired from swimming at Bama (Roll Tide Roll!).

Jonathan Gilvarry

Dr. Gilvarry is very pleased to have joined the BridgeMill Animal Hospital team in June of 2015. Ever since he was a young boy, Dr. Jonathan had a love for animals and he knew he wanted to be a veterinarian from the age of eight. Dr. Jonathan obtained his veterinary degree from the University of Florida, College of Veterinary Medicine in 2002. He practiced veterinary medicine in Florida for 12 years and was the co-owner of a small animal practice in Orlando. Dr. Jonathan and his wife, Alexis, and their daughter, Allison, moved to Georgia to be closer to family in 2014. They live with their three rescued cats-Fridgie, Daisy, and Oscar. In Dr. Jonathan's spare time, he enjoys helping around the house, following sporting events, and spending time with his family.

Nora Donnelly

Nora Donnelly, a native of Marietta, recently moved back to the area after earning her BFA from the University of New Orleans. She began her career in veterinary medicine at the Louisiana SPCA, where she worked as a shelter technician and a high-volume spay/neuter surgery technician. In order to continue to grow and learn in the field, Nora plans to pursue her doctorate of veterinary medicine. In her spare time, Nora enjoys hiking and practicing yoga. She also loves spending time with her fiancé, her two American Staffordshire terrier mixes- Dakota and Cecil- and two cats- Chipper and Penelope.
